So, i think that if we can get arenas after he is bought out, the blazers should really consider it. If somehow they can restructure his deal after his fiasco (i dont really know if thats possible) then the blazers should pursue that option

Former Washington Times reporter John Mitchell, who writes for TheGrio.com, indicates the Wizards are committed to removing Gilbert Arenas from the roster before next season.

According to a source, the team will "definitely consider buying out" Arenas' contract if he cannot be traded.

The Wizards will select John Wall with the first overall pick and, according to two league sources with knowledge of the team's future plans, will do everything in their power to make sure that Wall is never in the same locker room as Arenas.

One source with intimate knowledge of the team's plans says that Ernie Grunfeld does not want Arenas anywhere near Wall.

Grunfeld and Arenas used to share a strong relationship but they have barely spoken over the last two months.

I'd want to see if he still has the on-court skill first. Taking a flier on character is one thing, but let's see if he's still a high-quality player. Due to injuries and the suspension, it's been a while since he made a big impact on the court.

If the Wizards buy him out and Portland can get him on a cheap contract, I'd be interested, pending the Blazers' staff liking what they see when they work him out. I wouldn't trade for that contract with both where his head is at and his basketball ability being questions. Too much risk.

I'd discuss a trade with them, instead of waiting on the buyout. The injury is a huge risk, and contract. But teams always have guys go through a physical before a deal is done. So you bring him out here, and work him out hard, and see where he's at physically and mentally. And if Allen signs off on the money side, and our staff/management/medical crew see him as fit and a fit, start by offering Miller and Joel for Arenas and either lotto protected 1st next season, or the #34 this season. Maybe both. If they want him gone, I imagine they'd go for that. And if we think he's healthy, he takes over for Miller. Alleviates tons of scoring pressure from everyone.

Three years ago, we wouldn't be able to put a package together to get him. Again, I'd only do it after getting all the info possible, due dilligence on his health and rehab. None of us obviously know how he's doing, and preparing. But KP and staff would be able to. If they saw him as healthy, I can't see why not. If his legal trouble was the Tinsley gun type, I'd say no for sure. I think what he did was incredibly stupid, for sure, but the type of legal risk I'd much prefer to take a chance on.
