From Freeman via Twitter:

"Marcus Camby did not have x-rays because the x-ray technician at Staples could not be found. He was wincing as he put on his shoe after the game and will get x-rays Monday."

That's horse shit.

You know the x-ray tech would have been there if Kobe were hurt.

That's some old school "opponent's showers only have cold water" bullshit!

probably won't make much difference to the team's short term interests (this year) whether it's correctly diagnosed tonight or tomorrow. And just using the eyeball test, it didn't look that bad... fingers crossed

Any update on the severity?

Nothing solid that I've seen. There is an encouraging post from Barrett's blog, though:

Marcus Camby got tangled up with Kobe late in this game, and if you saw our replays on the TV broadcast, it was obvious what happened. It was an ugly twist of the ankle, but fortunately it didn’t appear Camby’s weight made it a lot worse. The Lakers couldn’t find their x-ray technician in the building (I know, that sounds odd), so the standard x-rays that usually take place after a sprain, didn’t. Would have been interesting if a Laker player got hurt. Probably could have found the dude then. All I can say is that Camby was walking okay as he was boarding the team bus and had his shoe on. That’s a good sign. Again, it doesn’t mean everything, but it appeared it could have been much worse.

Facebook update:

X-rays on Portland C Marcus Camby (right ankle sprain) were negative. He is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game vs. Washington.

Good to hear Camby will be okay. I agree that we should rest him until San Antonio.

Faking the injury because he's upset he's not starting

"I'll show them"

This is good news. When I saw him on the floor last night, I immediately assumed he would be grabbing his knee. Glad to see it was "only" an ankle.

Trail Blazers center Marcus Camby will not play tonight against the Washington Wizards because of the sprained ankle he sustained in the Sunday night loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

After the Blazers’ Tuesday morning shootaround, more than 36 hours after he suffered the injury, Camby said his ankle remained sore and swollen. The backup center was unsure when he would return, but said he would “shoot to play against the Spurs,” Friday night.

“We’ve got some big games this week, so I’m trying to get out there,” Camby said.

Coach Nate McMillan said Camby’s absence will move rookie Chris Johnson into the playing rotation.

Interesting to see that they're going to actually play Johnson and move him into the rotation now. Can't think of a better time than up against the Wiz!
