Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

I suspect we won't be hearing anymore "Mar-cus Cam-by" chants in the RG again. We give all the love, and for what?

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

Is it too late to resign Barron?

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

Well ... hmmmmm ...

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

Can we have a do over and sign Landry or Dalembert instead of Crawchuck

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

As I said before, sit him till the playoffs.

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

When will management ever learn? They keep drafting guards, then sign even more FA guards like Crawford, then must later scurry to find Oberto, Sean Marks, etc. Who is the MORON who chose Armon Johnson over Earl Barron?

Get us depth at center, not guard!! Get Juwan Howard back here!!

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

I got to agree, jlprk. I don't think cutting Armon Johnson was considered as an option though. Don't forget, though, that they got us Kurt Thomas who was a very solid player for Chicago last year. And we have Chris Johnson and Craig Smith. And Aldridge can (and will) play some center with CJ, Smith, or Wallace moving to PF. We're gonna be okay.

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

Management was flummoxed last season. They couldn't choose between Barron, Marks, or Chris Johnson. It took the fans to tell them to choose Chris Johnson. Remember when it was up in the air over who we would keep? They didn't think it was an important decision.

Team scouts and Buchanan just don't place any priority on Center. They just don't realize that the position needs more attention than they've given it ever since we drafted Oden, whom they sincerely believe will return. They are blind about stocking up at Center.

Soon they'll be scurrying about stomping out fires, instead of planning in advance and preventing problems by putting an extra center on the roster.

agree, the aging and falling off bandaid that is Camby was an expensive failure and here we are with him having a sore knee after two weeks of camp - fuk that chit. We got killed on the boards last night.

Re: Camby to get an MRI tomorrow

Rebounding is definitely going to be our achille's heal this year. Camby helps tremendously in that area, but we will probably only get 50-54 games from him this year. That should be okay though. I would like to have signed Przybilla but perhaps he is retiring?

Camby has not been a failure by any means.

According to Quick, Pryz is pretty sure he is NOT retiring, but he wanted to spend Chritsmas at home with all of his family, so he may sign with a team as early as next week.

Blake and Travis would've helped a lot more on the boards.

Marcus Camby to have MRI Thursday

"Marcus Camby is set to have an MRI on his sore left knee Thursday and missed Wednesday's preseason game after suffering the injury in shootaround."

Huh, so he suffered an injury at shoot around before the game. I didn't hear about this I thought he was just resting last night...

Anybody else remember hearing about this?

Turns out that Camby just wants to spend Christmas at home with his family. The Oregonian says we need more quality character like this on the team, and by the way, you won't get your paper till after Christmas so they can practice what they preach.

Any news on the MRI yet? Are the Blazers going to tell us anything? Or are they going to keep it a secret like they do with Oden?

Injury Update: MRI on Portland C Marcus Camby shows nothing new. He's listed as day-to-day with sore left knee.

MRI results on #Blazers center Marcus Camby's left knee are back and are negative. Camby is listed as day-to-day with sore left knee.

Good news. It's what I was expecting, but it's nice to have the news actually released. Unlike another player on the roster...

The next update will be the setback at the start of next season, the day after Camby signs his new contract with us.

Glad to hear it's nothing traumatic ... but the fact that it's "just" wear and tear and age isn't exactly comforting. Chances are Camby's going to have increasing trouble as the season wears on, especially as the games come fast and furious.

Completely disagree. We were doing fine with Juwan Howard. Camby came in, had a 30/13 game, got a three year deal at 10 million per, I believe, and never came close to playing that way again. And he didn't put us over the top. We still lost in the first round, so who cares? He's getting older and he's always injured. We've gotten nowhere without him and it's been expensive. And we lost two of our best outside shooters in the deal.

1) Howard did fine at first, but his performance was in sharp decline at the time the trade was made.

2) He got a 2 year extension, not an unreasonable gamble.

3) Camby played well the first half of last season, and was a major contributor before age and injuries caught up to him.

4) I liked Outlaw more than many posters, but he was hardly irreplaceable. Blake was just plain over-rated. He had a career year when the team won 54 games, and he has been living off that ever since.

Notice that Juwan Howard didn't have an MRI?

Not only did Juwan heroically replace both Oden and Przybilla and get us through the 2009-10 season with a winning record, he was the one who kept praising Portland and talked Camby into re-signing here when the whole league was trying to sign Camby.

When this whole shameful board belittled the miracle of Juwan Howard and poo-pooed my solitary alarm at his eviction from Portland, I alone stood against the tide and tried to throw him a lifesaver. The inevitable happened. The next season when neither Oden nor Joel returned, management was forced to awaken long enough to try to fill his boots with Fabricio Oberto, Sean Marks, and finally Chris Johnson.

Juwan, if you're reading this, don't become disheartened at being thrown overboard by the city you loved. Just focus your sad thoughts on me. I will always be here when you come to visit, rejected by everyone except me. Keep me in your thoughts to survive the hardships of the rest of your life.

Juwan loved us enough to take a min contract to go ring-chasing. That's fine. Don't let the screen door hit your ass on the way out to the rocking chair.

I hope that you and Juwan have a happy life together. :)

BTW, Luke Babbitt's rebounding percentage is higher than Juwan's.
