..............and now he is injured. fuckin' shit. and so unnecessary.

Hurt his hand, didn't play against Russia. No word yet on how bad it is.

Just another reason why the NHL doesn't belong in this tournament

do injuries not happen in the NHL? He or anyone can break a bone at any given time during a hockey game. This could have just as well happened in an NHL game.

If you don't want the NHL to participate in the Olympics that's fine, but it shouldn't be because of injuries.

Yeah it sucks that happened but the players should be allowed to represent their countries. If they want to go they should be able to go. I bet Zucc would still go 100 times out of 100. We wouldnt be bitching if it was Crosby who broke his hand.

Per Steve Zipay, initial expectation is a 3 week injury. Likely out 5-6 games.

That might end the RC trade speculation, though maybe they make a smaller deal.

What are you talking about? That's the main reason! They are paid HUGE amounts of money to play in the NHL, not the Olympics. What happens if Nash breaks a bone, and is lost for the season? The Olympic's are a great tournament, but they need to leave it for the College players.

You're acting like Nash couldn't have gotten hurt in the NHL. Injuries can happen at any time, not just in the Olympics.

On the bigger ice it's more surprising a player like Zuccarello got hurt since he's shifty.

they are also insured so when injuried the team can recoup. the bottom line is they are representing their country and should have the right

I understand that a player can injured anywhere, but If a player is going to get injured, I would rather he miss time because of injury with the team he is under contract with.

Owners and GM's will be deciding whether they have that right in another 4 years.

I understand why owners would not want their investments getting injured while playing elsewhere. But as nothing more than a fan, if you really think a guy shouldnt be allowed to represent his country just so your favorite team wont be hurt by an injury, you need to get over yourself.

and a guy like OV has already stated that he would leave his team and play even if he wasn't "allowed"

Get over myself? Doesn't even make sense ...

I like watching the tournament, but I would rather see the Rangers win a Stanley Cup rather than medal at the Olympics.

Of course it makes sense. You, and others, would rather tell a guy he isn't allowed to represent his country at the Winter Olympics so that you can sit on your couch and watch your favorite team have a better chance to win a Stanley Cup. I'd rather see a Cup than a medal too, but these guys should absolutely have the opportunity to play in these games. If the owners nix it so be it, they are the ones who sign the checks.

I don't want to see it go back to college kids..sorry but I want to see the very best of the best. You know that besides the US and Canada the other teams would be stacked with professionals, maybe not from the NHL but the KHL and Swedish Elite League etc.

The nice thing about College kids playing, is that they won't be expected to win (if at all), but when they do ... it's Great

I don't want to tell them they can't represent their country, but we have other tournaments besides the Olympics that the professionals can play in. Like I said, I enjoy watching it.

and wouldn't you be upset if say Kreider was at BC (a ranger draft pick) and he got hurt during the tournament? You can say that about any of these international tournes. Every year the non playoff team send players to play at the World Championships. Doesn't matter I guess since their NHL team's season is over

I bet he only misses 2-3 games, but they're tough ones.
