Can Vonleh play SF?

That wasn't at all my point. Positions are less important than skillset. For example, in addition to Vonleh, some have mentioned that the offensive skillset Leonard brings to the table is closer to a 3 than a 5. So, if Leonard, Vonleh, and Aminu are all on the floor together, who fills what role? Based on their heights, you would naturally classify Aminu as a 3, Vonleh a 4, and Leonard a 5. But Aminu is actually the best rim protector of the three, while Leonard is the best shooter, and Vonleh is the best ball-handler. Then again, Aminu is probably also the best slasher/finisher, Leonard the best post defender, and Vonleh the best rebounder.

Honestly, that's the lineup I'm looking forward to more than any other, specifically because of the positional ambiguity.
When I hear "Aminu @ PF" to me it sounds like it's at the expense of Vonleh/Meyers. I think that'd be a HUGE mistake - Aminu shouldn't take ANY minutes at PF from Meyers/Vonleh. For instance: Dame/CJ/Crabbe/Aminu/Plumlee. Fuck that! We need to develop our young bigs more than we need to gimmick our way to a couple meaningless wins.
However, the scenario you described is fine, because it's Aminu at SF even if the traditional roles are shuffled between Aminu/Vonleh/Meyers.

He should. Olshey should (and probably already did) make it very clear to Stotts that this year is ALL about development of the youth. Unnecessarily playing Kaman should not be tolerated.
I see Kaman playing in the first half and Vonleh in the second half. Keeps the young guy out of foul trouble and the old guy doesn't get gassed. I'm sure Kaman is the first big guy off the bench in the beginning of games.

You are who you can guard. I guess we'll have a better idea by about week 8 in the season, but based on his physical profile my guess would be, "no."

While I agree with you in terms of starters, I think a Dame/CJ/Crabbe/Aminu/Biebs type of lineup might be used to finish games.

I believe that Vonleh is 95% PF, but I do think it would be fun to see a lineup of:

Dame
CJ
Vonleh
Leonard
Davis/Plumlee

The all can run, positions 1-4 can all shoot the three well and positions 3-5 would be great rebounders. Not sure what would happen on the defensive end, but it would be fun to look at for a bit.

Lets not confuse the young players and start shifting them around where they get confuse at different positions.

Kaman will absolutely see some minutes for this reason alone. As good as I think this team will be, they will get frazzled. If nothing else, Kaman will be a vet stabilizer to put into games to calm things down and get the offensive flow back. In limited minutes, 12-15 minutes, he will be very valuable.

Offensive flow? Kaman is a black hole. If only we could harness his density for interstellar travel.

Kaman was talked about for 6 man of the year over the first 25-30 games last season before injury..he limped into the post season with a bad back. You're only as good as your last game I guess but he's going to be a valuable guy this season for mentoring and building momentum early in games.

What I am saying is when the running and gunning gets out of control and turnovers happen more( I know Kaman is turnover prone too) he will be good to put in there as a low post threat to dump the ball into and slow the game down for a couple minutes to give other guys a breather and regroup. Not saying he is going to innitiate better offensive, just the ability to change the speed when putting him in there will help things at times.

I think he was a positive force last season especially the first half. Hoping for more of the same and a positive vet influence on our unproven players. Vets can be especially important for calming the young guys who think they are world beaters and aren't happy with their lack of playing time.

Strictly speaking he probably should have been called a point-forward I guess?

I don't get why he should not be a point guard. He clearly brought the ball up and ran the offense. Is it just because he was tall? Outside of that I can't see any reason he would be labelled a forward.

Although Johnson was recruited by several top-ranked colleges such as Indiana and UCLA, he decided to play close to home.[28] His college decision came down to Michigan and Michigan State in East Lansing. He ultimately decided to attend Michigan State when coach Jud Heathcote told him he could play the point guard position.

OK. Sure. Fine.
