Assuming they would come here, are we under the cap? Can we sign Boozer if he is amnestied, or Bynum when the Bulls waive him?

I probably wouldn't do that except seeing Brooke have foot surgery bothers me in the back of my mind.No interest in either. Lopez+Robinson+CJ for Joakim Noah though?

Oh hell no!
I wouldn't trade Darius Miles for Joakim Noah.Oh hell no!

We are over the cap and have used all available (non-Vet-min) exceptions. When Bynum is waived (since no one is taking on his full salary, he will pass through waivers) he will be UFA and will be eligible to sign with anyone for the vet minimum or any team using their existing cap space.
Amnesty is a different thing. It goes in 3 tiers, basically. Once a player is waived by anmesty, he goes into a modified waiver process. Teams have the ability to make the following bids:
1) Full claim. The team has to have the cap space to accept his entire 15.3M salary this year, and is on the hook for the 16.8M next year. No one has enough cap space to do this (PHI has the most, with about 10M)
2) Partial claim. A team cap use whatever cap space they have between a "minimum partial bid" (in Boozer's case, 2 years of the vet minimum or 2.8M, of which 1.4M in cap room has to be available toward this year's cap) and their max cap space. Highest dollar amount wins.
3) No bid. In this case, once the player clears waivers he is a UFA just like regular waivers.
Coon CBA #67 talks more about amnesty
...Coon CBA #67 said:For the 2012-13 through 2015-16 seasons it is available for the first seven days that follow the July moratorium (see question number 102). The waiver period for amnestied players is 48 hours, the same as all other waivers.
I would!
The "Oh hell no" has more to do with Lopez. He has become our true anchor for chemistry. I think he is at the "untradable" level right now. At least so far.
While the chemistry is important Noah is so much more talented in every facet of the game. He has also always gotten along with his teammates and has been a + chemistry guy in his time in Chicago. He's an enforcer. He's everything most fans have asked for for years. Lopez is a nice player but no player should be untradeable. If Miami wanted to give us LeBron for LMA and Dame It would be a no brainer despite our chemistry. Talent trumps Chemistry every time, especially if the guy you are adding is a good chemistry guy.
None of the players mentioned in this thread would improve the team in the slightest.
We have a full team with no obvious weaknesses other than an inexperienced bench. Stand pat, spread out the PT, and enjoy.
EVERY team has weaknesses. Our bench is inexperienced? We have 11 year veteran Mo Williams, Joel Freeland is only in his second year in the NBA but he has played pro ball overseas for years and Dorell Wright is in his 10th year. No one else is seeing significant minutes on the bench except for Leonard/Robinson. We need bench scoring badly, which CJ SHOULD help with but no guarantees until he actually starts playing. Our center that so many seem to be scared to trade is a terrible defender when pulled out of the paint. Batum has more turnovers than anyone else on the team. We've been extremely lucky with injuries so far as well, none of our major guys have had to really miss time yet. You NEVER stand pat or you will watch teams start passing you by.
No interest in either. Lopez+Robinson+CJ for Joakim Noah though?
Tell that to Brooklyn and New York. Or how about the Lakers last season? If I were to tell you that Kobe, Howard, Gasol and Nash are your starting 5, according to your logic, they would be hands down favorites for the championship.
This is why people like you aren't the GM and the Olshey's are running winning ball-clubs
You must take situations into account though.
The Knicks have been ravaged by injuries this year. Chandler missed a huge chunk of the season and their PG situation is a mess. JR Smith is playing some of the worst ball of his career and Iman Shumpert has been in a funk most of the year. A'mare Stoudemire is the most overpaid player in the league and Andrea Bargnani is starting for this team. I would never call this team as a whole a world class talent. Carmelo Anthony is the only reason they don't have the worst record in the league, whether people want to acknowledge that or not.
Brooklyn on the other hand bet HARD on veterans that were already far past their prime. Deron Williams hasn't been THE Deron Williams for years now and Brook Lopez is hurt. They also have a head coach with no experience and no idea what he is doing.
The Lakers also had a major problem with how the coach fit that roster last year. Phil Jackson would have gotten that team to put their personal issues aside and found ways to get everyone the ball. D'Antoni was one of the worst choices they could have gotten for a old team built around big men who like to post up and a ISO baller in Kobe.
We are discussing Joakim Noah vs Lopez here. Noah is a fantastic team player. He is a fantastic defender and had had double digits in rebounding every year of his career except for his rookie season when he had 9.8. He passes the ball VERY well and would be a natural fit in Stotts system (4 apg last year!) Noah is also someone Olshey has tried to land in the past so he is one of the more realistic targets out there now that Chicago seems to be blowing it up.
But you wanted to trade our bench and veteran for 1 player. Kinda kills your entire argument.
First of all, I love Noah and would love to have him on this ball club. But you are not doing a swap of Lopez for Noah. You wanted to trade T. Rob, Lopez and Freeland for Noah. You just got rid of our "glue guy" anchor down low, which I believe Noah can fill in and be better at; but we become insanely thin. Who's gonna back up Noah and Aldridge?
I wanted to do Lopez+Robinson+CJ McCollum for Noah
Can we just wait until CJ plays first? He may become something very special for this ball club, especially since he's so much better at finishing around the basket.
