I was thinking of getting one, but I just bought a pocket point and shoot (SD780is).

I was thinking a G11 or that, but migt go with the new Nikon P100 since it also does HD (1080) video.

My research indicates its a good camera though. esp. if you need it pocket sized.

I also have a Nikon D60 DSLR but find myself more and more using the Canon S90 because its so much smaller and easier to pack around. I'm amazed at the quality of pictures I get from it and I'm still learning how to use it.

I personally dont care about video when it comes to cameras. I have an HD video camera for that.

Yeah. I'm kind of displeased with the quality of my SD780IS. I mean its decent but I can't do as much as a camera like that.

The G11 isn't overly bulky...dunno, the bigger lens and easier controls on top have me lean towards that if I needed to.

Read what this guy says about the S90 and the G11. His website is a great resource.

The S90 beats Canon's own flagship G11 at its own game. The S90 has the same oversized sensor as the G11, but adds a faster f/2 lens, a direct control ring and a bigger LCD in a smaller, lighter package for less money. So why would I want a G11? Just to carry more weight with a slower lens?

Cameras he recommends:

It has a bigger lens, so I would think it would take better pics. maybe i dunno....

i already have a pocket sized, so a midsized one might work better for artsy shoots.

maybe i should beat the shit out of my current one so I can justify buying the S90?

Get a Nikon DSLR for "artsy" shoots... or porn shoots!

I have a Canon dSLR. I need to learn to use it better though. Like you said, too big for most uses....

I'm sure they'll release an HD video version soon enough, i'll wait until then perhaps. I'd like a better quality pocket cam.

I got a D40 a couple of months ago, and it's cool, but I can't bring it out to bars and such. That Canon looks like it would be better since I could put it in my pocket...

Do most DSLR's come with a time lapse feature? Or is that a professional/high end camera thing?

Does it snap the picture right away or does it have that annoying delay between hitting the button and the picture being taken?

one of my pet peeves.....hard to get good shots out at a bar/club/party with that delay.

Dang, those were the days. Now it's all about getting a picture of my toddler son -- way, way geeky, but that's where I am in life these days.

I wonder if he got a whole bunch of these in bulk at $300 each and is trying to make a profit. His store doesn't know and hes getting a little extra on the side. :tsktsk:

I doubt anyone has a whole bunch of these. This camera is kinda hard to find. The Best Buy's around town sell out of them pretty fast. I just checked and a few Best Buys are sold out right now.

Should I buy it . . . I love toys.

Hopefully they do HD vid in the next version, then I'm all over it.

Anyone familiar with the D3000? Really considering getting it. Only $456 at amazon and it's supposed to be on par or better than the D60.

I plan on getting this as my new toy.

Easily the best non-SLR camera on the market.

Without a doubt its the best non SLR on the market. You wont be dissapointed.

I think I might sell my D60. I cant see myself using it much anymore now that I have the S90. Of course S90's pics arent as high quality as the D60, but pretty close and so its much much easier to pack around town.

The D3000 is Nikon's "replacement" for the D60. You'll get better high-ISO noise levels, faster processing, a better AF, and a larger, better screen. That's about it.

If you have the extra $$, get the D90.
