Without a doubt its the best non SLR on the market. You wont be dissapointed.

I think I might sell my D60. I cant see myself using it much anymore now that I have the S90. Of course S90's pics arent as high quality as the D60, but pretty close and so its much much easier to pack around town.

What would you want for your D60?

The D3000 is Nikon's "replacement" for the D60. You'll get better high-ISO noise levels, faster processing, a better AF, and a larger, better screen. That's about it.

If you have the extra $$, get the D90.

I'm sitting between the D3000, the D40 and the D5000 right now. Just trying to decide if I want to spend the extra cash. Not looking to spend $1k on a camera(D90)

I got a D40 a couple of months ago, and it's cool, but I can't bring it out to bars and such. That Canon looks like it would be better since I could put it in my pocket...

Ed O.

Ed, where'd you get your D40 from?

Don't take Ken Rockwell's stuff too seriously. The guy has a lot of opinions and isn't bashful about expressing them, but some of them are just flat wrong...or at least don't fit with the advice of most professional photographers. If you want unbiased opinions about digital cameras I'd go to dpreview.com.

I've considered both this camera and the G11, and my conclusion was you can get a very nice DSLR for around the same price. It might not be the newest version, but it'll still take great pictures. Something like the Nikon D70S or D5000 would be great.

Personally, I own the Nikon D700 w/ 70-200mm 2.8 lens and the 50mm 1.4G lens. I love it.

Agree, but DSLR's are a pain in the ass to haul around because they are so big.

So with SD cards, do you usually want to go with the ultra versions of them? Or is it not that big of a deal? What's the best brand?

16gb seems like a lot. 8 is probably all you'll really need right?

you should get an SDHC card.

speed is an important factor, you don't want your camera to be waiting.

For point-and-click cameras how would you rank the S90 to the Lx3 from Panasonic?

I've been doing tons of research on Digital cameras lately. Every site I've been to has the s90 as the top non SLR camera on the market.

Went with the D5000. Everyone in town wanted $700 for it. Got it for $637 on Amazon.

Btw, I do have a SLR. A Nikon D90.

But I do plan on getting the Canon S90 for more random stuff. It's small and the quality is very good. Check out this example pic I found on flickr of a S90:

I've been using a Sony DSC-W210 which works quite well.

What do you guys have for a camera bag? Any brands to stay away from?

My bro's visiting right now....checked out his new G11...fuck that is a nice camera.

...was waiting for the HD Vid....will probably get now.
