Can't trade them big 3... Or the blazers send their pick to da bulls

I don't understand the thread title, unless you mean that it would be addition by subtraction and if we traded them we'd be as good as we have been the last two games and roar into the playoffs?

I too am not understanding the thread title?

Dozer from the Matrix movie. Tank and Dozer. Since I'm not big on tanking unless it is organic with youth, I chose Dozer. I am a big Matrix fan.
I recognized the face/reference, but hadn't caught the implication. I like it even better now.

I thought it was the Blazers make a trade for a Big 3 team.

More and more I'm wondering if Grant just has so little trade value that Joe is in a tough spot. If he trades him away for a couple 2nd rounders, the fans are going to kill him because they think he's worth at least 1 1st and many think he's worth 2 1sts. Ant is probably in much of the same boat and Ayton they might have to attach picks to get someone to take at this point.
Those fans are idiots. Why should Cronin worry about catering to the clueless in the fanbase?

I've liked Grant as a player for quite a while as he's an above average starting forward IMO. I really like him at 15M per but his contract is at over 30M per year for 3 seasons past this one when he's 33 and likely declining. At that rate in a salary cap league with escalating penalties for exceeding team salary aprons of 178M & 189M, he's not going to be coveted by other teams. If he's moved, almost certainly it would be for other team's overpriced assets. Unless Portland takes on even worse contracts, it's highly unlikely there will be much of any draft capitol coming back. Signing him to this contract was noted as a bad mistake by many here when it happened.

Wait...is the premise of this thread that the blazers have to trade Simons, Grant and DA otherwise they'd make the playoffs and thus send their pick to the Bulls?

Or maybe guys who score more by jacking up more shots doesn't necessarily mean they've "earned" the starting spot or more minutes.

Kind of seems the opposite now.

Trading Grant, Simons and DA will ruin the tank (if key players stay healthy).

Absolutely right.

None of them have earned it anymore. It's Mr Coach Billups.

I would like to know what thinking process Chauncey had in his head when he started the 2023-24 season with Anfernee Simons and Scoot Henderson in the backcourt.

And, more stupid than that, yes, it's possible, Shaedon Sharpe wasn't even a starter to begin last season.

I think Jerami is still the first that needs to go because he just doesn't fit our timeline. So unless the dude has negative trade value ship his ass off first. I do agree that the way that Ant and Deandre play with this roster is painful to watch and they've got to go as well.
100% disagree. Grant is the one we should keep. Defends well, hits the open three, playoff experience. And he isn’t standing in the way of the Scoot/Sharpe/Clingan core like Ant and Ayton are.

Yes, that's the joke. It was a tongue in cheek, smart asses backwards R us dig at the "big 3" nomenclature and those that want to trade these guys no matter what because they hurt the lottery odds.

Not that I agree per say, but I believe the issue was more than just wins and losses, when it comes to those who would prefer to trade these three players asap. There is also a concern about development, or the lack of. Young players learning bad habits from older players, etc.
I personally am not as concerned about this as others seem to be, but I believe there is more to their desire to trade these guys than just the effect it would have on wins and losses.
I don't mean to speak for others, just going off of what I have read and what seems to be the consensus here.

I think you can take just about any thread I start as me being a smartass. Nothing too serious, honestly.
