Canzano and Quick "Something is not right"

I don't even know what you're talking about. I have "continually" had issues with you?

I glanced through the dozens of my sent PMs from the last year or two and I've not sent you one PM that I can see.

Are you getting me confused with someone else? Honestly.

And yet, there is intelligent discussion in almost every thread he starts. We just need to pick through the personal attacks that some people (who could easily ignore the threads he starts) can't help throwing out there.

Ed O.

If you had PM'd I wouldn't have said you delete posts without explanation.

I remember a poster in a different forum (not web based, but the old rec.sports groups) who would purposely post links to articles that would back his political affiliation. He was more conservative than the average poster there, but he at least admitted that he was trollin'. His links would be super conservative, and the titles to his threads were 100% done to antagonize the "lie-bruls" as he put it.

Everyone hated him, ridiculed him and pretty much started to ignore posts he made. It got to the point where he finally realized that acting like a petulant little shit pretty much got him on everyone's ignore list. It wasn't until he changed his ways and started to post strong and well thought out posts that people listened to him again. Over time, he became a popular(ish) poster/member again.

And that persons name?

Oliver North.

Actually, I don't remember his name (it was like 16+ years ago). But the point remains the same. It must be exhausting to carrying on like he does.

I think Pinhead was a popular (as far as trolls go) troll. He loved Shaq beyond reason, if I remember correctly, on rec.sports.basketball.pro. Not sure if Pinhead was a political guy, though. :)

Ed O.

You understand what the phrase "in spite of" means, right?

I don't see what MIXUM did wrong in this thread. He posted legitimate links, at length, yet even mods like NateBishop and barfo personally addressed him, and not his posts.

Clean this shit up, Ed. barfo set the bar low with his deletion of my post last week that actually addressed the topic at hand, and that was after he had a rough time in an OT thread in which I did not even post.

If you had PM'd I wouldn't have said you delete posts without explanation.

I tend not to PM unless someone has made a habit of breaking or skirting around rules. I honestly have no problem with someone making a "bad" post or two occasionally... we all do it.

I'm sorry that, by not PM'ing you, I made it worse. I intended just to clean it up so when people read the thread later they would not wonder why so many posts went unedited.

Ed O.

it wasn't in basketball, it was in wrestling, I think.

Give examples of where I've made it a habit?

You're so full of shit your eyes are brown!

Sure. We all have a reasonably good time here in spite of some posters. :)

Threads that people start all have potential for quality discussion, and when we focus on the basketball-related items the signal:noise ratio is much higher, irrespective of the starter of the thread.

Ed O.

Do you want to answer the question that I posed to SPG? I'd be interested to see what value you think you brought here today.

Ed O.

The "value" I think I brought to a hideously and trollishly negative thread was to derail it, for a moment. Seemed fairly successful.

Whatcha eatin under there?

That's the beauty of his troll power. He is never "wrong" in one thread. He walks beautifully the ragged edge of being legal while also going out of his way to antagonize.

under where?

oooh, i see what you did there.

Do you deny that you've been skirting around the rules for years?

Ed O.

The troll wins.

This.

It continually amazes me how people let someone get under their skin like this when all they have to do is ignore him. They literally don't have to do anything. Just don't respond. Don't do anything. It's that easy, but they just can't do it. Pretty funny.

Seems as if he is smarter than he is given credit for being, eh? I don't fall for it. Then again, my entire day doesn't depend on how I am viewed on this board, and I'm not saying yours does either, since you seem to be rational.

Ah... I didn't read that. It seems to me that the community adjusted and then, eventually, the troll adjusted. I don't think we even had ignore back on usenet, did we?

Ed O.

When it comes making your little 'baby' look like a fool. Yes. I generally ignore him though.

You say you think its necessary to send suspension messages to those that habitually break the rules. When was the last time you edited a post of mine regarding your boy? Or any kind of post of mine?

You probably can't recall, or you'll make something else up. In the first PM I sent you I said you've had an agenda against me for years.

Thanks for further proof.

I never thought he was dumb. I still think it goes against the spirit of the forum when someone goes out of his way to antagonize plenty of people, but apparently the fine print is more important... it's a shame, really.

Is flaming against the rules on this forum?

Flaming - "Deliberate flaming, as opposed to flaming as a result of emotional discussions, is carried out by individuals known as flamers, who are specifically motivated to incite flaming. These users specialize in flaming and target specific aspects of a controversial conversation, and are usually more subtle than their counterparts. Their counterparts are known as trolls who are less "professional" and write obvious and blunt remarks to incite a flame war, as opposed to the more subtle, yet precise flamers"

Fuck. It's simple, folks. I just don't get it, but then again, mods start actiing like trolls in some of these threads.

well, ignore in the sense that no one responded to his threads.

it's easier to ignore those threads than these. Although I think if we're allowed to call a spade a spade I don't care if mixxy keeps his shtick up for the rest of his natural days.

I'll counter and say the others, including you, pour gas on these threads. If a fire is lit in the desert, does it burn?

Do you apply this to life? Do you not ever speak your mind when things around you aren't right? This guy comes on here and makes a place that could be a very cool and tries to intentionally stir shit up and bring everybody down. No problem with people having a differing opinion, it's just how it is put across.

No doubt. I don't deny getting into flame-wars. The difference being, I can admit when I'm trollin'.

You should read more carefully before you tell me what I said. I actually wrote:

"I tend not to PM unless someone has made a habit of breaking or skirting around rules."

You skirt around rules. You admit it. You deserve to be warned, and potentially suspended, much more than someone who makes an occasional emotional post IMO.

Mixum gives me a good laugh about 3 times a day. Personally, I don't experience the angst a lot of you guys do, but I can see why he would rub people the wrong way.
