whats really sad is roy basically saying hes wearing down. thats why i was so upset we didnt make a trade. we badly needed a guy who get us 20 points a night. Roy simply cannot be counted on every game to do it. Hes a little brittle as it is. Now even IF we make the playoffs... he will be so weak, it wont matter anyway. Basically Pritchard wanted to see what he had and hes gonna pay for it now.

What is really sad is that the Oregonian pays Canzano to write crap like that.
It was a fluff piece, and one that Canzano again used to promote himself. That crap about Roy in his rookie season being afraid to get on godfather canzanos bad side was garbage.

Sure Roy is worn down. All players are this time of the year unless they have been sitting on the bench. Is there anyone here who is unaware Roy is a bit worn down?

Canzano gets a one on one with the teams all star and the first third of the column he writes about himself and how he intimidates BRoy and the rest of it he tells us Roy is worn down, tired, and has various aches and pains and that he will have to play through it.

How bout asking him a question we don't know the answer too?

So the most important athlete in the state of Oregon, the leader of the only major league franchise in Portland, the former Rookie of the Year, two All Star appearances, has been here for three years and you FINALLY get around to interviewing him?

I'm sorry, Canzano, what bigger stories were you covering in the interim?

And when you finally condescend to interviewing Roy, you spend the first third of your story describing how much you've failed to get his story in the past. Yet you seem to twist it into a monument to your ego.

Maybe, though, you haven't had this interview because even a standup guy like Roy realizes that you make your living off of creating controversy. You've avoided him because there's so little muck you can rake out of him. He's avoided you because he's not excited to see you invent yet another controversy out of nothing. He doesn't want to become another witch for you to hunt.

Nevermind my point about how long it's taken you to get around to interviewing Roy. You've done your job--just let it slide for another 3 years. By then we'll have Roy sewn up in a long-term contract, possibly have won a championship, and Roy will have 3 more All Star games under his belt. You'll probably find something on him by then, but it'll be pretty tough to run him out of town over it.

no doubt... but who is typically more worn out, young players or older players? Whose joints probably ache more... Roy's or Nash's?

Let's see we all agreed the ideal trade would have been for....... Caron Butler. And he has been out two weeks with a bad hammy. So we would have lost Butler and the guys we traded to get him. Not sure that would have helped Roy out too much.

So Butler's a selfish quitter. Even more reason not to trade for him.

You can't say that injury would have occurred if he was on the Blazers. On that same note, he could have not had the injury, or even had a worse one. It's stupid to argue over.

As far as the article goes, I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. Canzano in a roundabout way was saying that the team has to rely on Roy, regardless of how injured he is. I liked the McMillan quote at the end. It would have been nice if it was a bit longer.

He was just sulking because Brandon hasn't provided the kind of fertile literary ground that guys like Sheed, Z-bo, Miles and others provided for him in the past.
