Canzano says KP is under pressure now to do something with Raef's contract. Canzano seems to think it should be used on a big upgrade at SF.

What's out there that fits our core?

Mike Rice likes Rudy Gay.

What about Carmelo? This summer, according to ESPN Insider, KP did talk to Denver about Carmelo but was turned off when they asked for LaMarcus. This tell me KP at least has interest in obtaining Anthony.

Canzano is an idiot if he thinks this injury to GO has any impact upon whether KP decides to make a deal before the deadline or hold on to all of the cap space to make a free agent signing. KP's looking at the long run, not reacting to a minor injury.

A minor injury out of a dozen injuries he's had since HS. It is a problem and it's not a minor problem.

Why do you give one shit what John Canzano thinks? I guess you also wanted to draft Pooh Jeter and Sean May.

Care to list that dozen? Are you including his severe basketball-related tonsil injury?

Why would Pritchard be pressured NOW to trade Raef's contract? And if it's because of Greg, why for a small forward? And why would Rudy Gay even be something we could hope for? He's not paid a lot, and he's Memphis's star player. Just because they gave up Gasol doesn't mean they'll do that with young, low-paid players.

The OBVIOUS solution is to cut Randolph and re-sign Steven Hill.

See: Bynum injury/Gasol trade :drumroll:

Really? Which ones are chronic? Are we worried his tonsils might grow back? It's just been bad luck. If you believe any different, then the onus is on you to prove why these different injuries constitute a trend.

That's a great example

It is except for the fact you guys dont have a middle age superstar bitching. Regardless how your team might do this year it wasnt built for this year. But a big expiring is still a big expiring

I don't think KP has to trade LaFrenz at the trade deadline but I think there is a good chance he will. It depends on which teams are looking to trade and players available for a expiring contract. If the right player is available for LaFrenz and 1 or 2 of our bench players I could see it happening. I'm still thinking Marion but I know most of you don't want him and maybe KP doesn't want Marion either.

That's a great example

That's a great example of a move that became available that was in the best long term interests of the team.

If one like that comes along this year (please let there be some fool GM looking to cut a talented player to save money), then I'm sure KP would make the trade in a heartbeat. My only point is that he's going to do whatever is in the best interests of the team's future...not simply react because of some perceived (by Canzano and a few other Chicken Littles) pressure due to GO's minor injury.

DaRizzle has a conflict of interest in this discussion because he'd like to see the Blazers blow their cap space so they don't have room to make a play for Kobe next summer. ;)

I thought of that earlier, how funny it would be to sign Bynum to that fat extension only to see Kobe walk before Bynum pulls a paycheck from it.

Whatever...gives us the room to UPGRADE

So did you guys hear about Lebron interested in the Lakers as one of his destinations? I did. :devilwink:

Yeah, I'm sure he'd be interested, but he might have a change of heart when he finds out that if he signs a massive contract with the Lakers he'll have to put up with 5 Laker Girls as teammates since that's all the money Kupchak would have left. :biglaugh:

Garbage in garbage out. Pay attention to Canzano at your own risk

STOMP

sign and trade baby...sign and motherfucking trade :)

maybe for something like farmar/bynum, otherwise no chance. if lebron is going the cavs will be blowing up and rebuilding, and looking for young stars & lottery picks.

good luck getting kobe to agree to that.
From a previous thread I wrote:

The Cavs want to keep Lebron and will try to by putting better talent around him. I personally get the feeling that their efforts are futile and Lebron is going to a bigger market no matter what. After all he wants to be the first athlete billionaire. While he probably could make more in endorsements in NY or LA he would be losing money on the FA market since the Cavs can pay him more than any other team. In comes the sign and trade.

During that off-season the Lakers "accidentally" leak a rumor that they are trying to trade Kobe for Lebron. You know that will really irk Kobe and his friend Mr. Ego and hopefully in turn he will be more lax on his "trade veto power". He will get the "I'll show you" attitude and agree to a trade just to prove the Lakers wrong (in his mind). He said how he could dominate the East...show us all.

Meanwhile, while all that drama is going on in LA the Cavs will be desperately trying to keep Lebron. Obviously the contract isnt the issue or they would be able to keep him. Once they accept the reality of not being able to keep Lebron the will start looking for the next best option. They have built a good fan base and team since Lebron arrived and I would think they wouldn't want to just throw all that momentum away...In comes Kobe.

I think Lebron would love this trade because he gets the best of both worlds. The big market AND the Max NBA contract. I think the Cavs would love this considering the other option is nothing for Lebron. Also, Kobe would be on the final year of his contract so it gives the Cavs options whichever way they decide to go.

I think the problem with Greg is everyone is dying to see what he can do. SO every time he misses action, it has to be talked about and analyzed to death . . . but again that is due to the fact everyone is dying to see him action.

I'm not going to say all his injuries can be connectd to show a trend, but here is the trend I see:

Individual workout by Blazers-poor performance due to cold
Summer league-missed games due tonsils
'07 82 games-missed due to injury
'08 First 10 games-missed due to injury
(I forget if he missed any games during pre-season, but I think they held him out of the back to back I because of the ankle)

I see a pattern or trend or whatever. It's going to take a long time before you can say he has played more games than he has missed due to injury. My screen name shows I'm behind the guy and hoping he is all what they say he was going to be. But right now . . . it is so not_GO_time

Nice colds and influenza are now on par with broken bones.

If that's about my posts, you missed my point. It's not about broken bones at all . . . in fact broken bones are not Greg's problem.

I'm just saying that Oden has missed a hell of a lot of games for various aliments and injuries.

kobe wanting to sign with the cavs is just wishful thinking - they're a lottery team without lebron, and if kobe is going he will certainly have better options.

now if you want to start talking about 3-way trades that opens up some realistic possibilites.

Actually he missed 82 for one injury, and will likely miss 7 or 8 from another. Is he injury prone? I really can't say yet. to me the micro-fracture was something that a player would have played with for years before addressing, but the FO decided to address it early. People get sick sometimes, everyone does, and I don't think it's an indication of frailty.

And yes and no my post was about yours, I am so freakin ill of hearing people talk about every thing like it's proof of him being Sam Bowie.

I don't quite get this analysis of Greg playing through the knee pain. He stopped practicing and had explaratory surgery because he was experiencing swelling and had pain in the knee. Was he going to play his entire career with knee pain?

In his first 80 NBA games of his career, he has missed them due to two injuries. And that coming off a college season where he played with a boken hand . . . don't hate the posters, hate the player :D

Individual workout by Blazers-poor performance due to cold
Summer league-missed games due tonsils

These are just padding, to suit your point. Missing a workout due to feeling unwell and having one's tonsils out don't have anything to do with Oden's health. Both "afflictions" have been suffered by a vast amount of the population and are filed under "side effects of being alive."

'07 82 games-missed due to injury
'08 First 10 games-missed due to injury

These count, but hardly point to a trend, since they were unconnected. Bad luck, sure, but they neither point to a chronic condition (since they were two different parts of his body) and they aren't numerous enough to imply being injury-prone.
