yeah, I don't think Olshey has to intentionally do anything...I'm sure the man gives it more than his all...Not sure what goes into this Canzano take.

The Blazers can fix this problem and silence him by 'giving him' something. I don't know why they don't.

It's a fucking stupid theory. You get future jobs by not stinking. Canzano is a dolt who can't figure out how to get attention in any way other than being an inflammatory asshat. I've never been one to boycot his crap, I just never read it cause it holds zero value.

I'm impressed. JC has managed to turn shit-posting into a full and a part-time job. Good on him.
That impresses you? I could post a thread on here about popsicle sticks and three months later people would be on Sports Two arguing about wood density. Canzano is a hack at best in a "cut and paste" editorial column. If your going to idolize a sports journalist, idolize greats like Dick Schaap, Peter Gammons or Thomas Boswell. Writers like that have chunks guys like Canzano in their stool.

If you got paid for it I'd be impressed.

You mean Paul Allen let's a bunch of California Republicans into the Moda so they can frolic like drunken satyrs and screw goats while quoting Walt Whitman and s---t?
I've never heard anyone connect Walt Whitman to drunken Republicans...he was about as far from conservatism as a poet could get

Eh. Don't know much about Whitman to tell you the truth. As far as American poetry goes, I like Hart Crane and Hart Crane..... and Hart Crane.

I'm a Bukowski, Margaret Atwood, Gary Snyder fan...have to look up Hart Crane. Whitman's Song of Myself ..give it a read

I think John Nash and Steve Patterson intentionally sucked at their jobs so they could leave and get better jobs.

I think Nash and Patterson sucked at their jobs because they don't know anything different. Getting another job was just a bonus.

I think PatterNash was hired to tear down the Blazers. Which they did. Once accomplished, it was time to find someone to build the team back up.

Labeling the Clown’s job description as columnist is not a good fit. Plus, it insults every legitimate columnist.

After comparing the Clowns behavior to every known psychological disorder, the best label appears to be troll. However, he has taken normal trolling far beyond the internet into radio and newspaper trolling. Plus since he is paid to troll, that makes him a Professional Troll. I did a search for images of trolls, and sure enough, up popped this image of the bald clown.

Troll.jpg

However, there is more to the Clown’s talents than just Professional Troll. He uses very elite and advanced baiting techniques. He can bait anyone into a senseless argument, on any subject, and take any side of the issue, and always declare himself right. The only requirement he uses is, any trolling topic he starts must increase his ratings, no matter whose lives he disrupts. The only defense against his elite baiting skills is to completely ignore him.

Clownznao’s correct job title should be: Professional Master Baiter Troll.

"Neil Olshey (No. 3 in 2014): Awful summer for the Trail Blazers GM costs him on this list. Olshey got nothing for three big expiring contracts (LaMarcus Aldridge, Wesley Matthews and Robin Lopez) and is trying to spin the failure this summer as a natural part of building a winner. The Blazers roster strength is how the GM will ultimately be judged, and the roster is at its weakest point in some time. Olshey has drafted well, but feels like the first GM in league history to begin tanking a season in the previous July"

Hard to argue with that summation.

Note to John: Just because you aren't smart enough to understand a plan doesn't mean that there isn't one.

Patterson is the AD at Texas. Debatable whether or not that's a better job than NBA GM.

Per reports of late, he might not be long for that position. Imagine that, he's alienating the fanbase at Texas.

Are you on medication or something? That summation is so far off it's mind-boggling that as competent an arguer like you would say it's hard to argue with.

I strongly disagree.

LMA sent out strong signals in June of 2013 that he wanted out.

Maybe canceling all his PDX endorsements and selling his Lake Oswego house and renting Damon's West Linn home in July of that year were too subtle.

Bottom line -- you don't let your prime franchise player walk for nothing.

Miami gave up a combo of five 1st/2nd's and a $16m TPE for Lebron.
Minnesota received the #1 overall pick + TPE for Love.
Orlando received a HUGE package of assets for Dwight.

This isn't Greg Monroe, you don't let LMA walk. If you didn't have the foresight to see this - you're blind.

Neil should be on the hot seat. I'm glad Canzano is going in on Neil.

And HERE we go AGAIN!!!!

Pretty sure that each half of the board can recite the other half's position on this by heart.

Just fricking let it go.

Nah, that would be Sam Hinkie who drafted Joel Embiid with the 3rd pick in June of 2014 draft AFTER it was announced Embiid had broken the navicular bone in his right foot, would need surgery and miss the entire 2014-15 season. Or maybe it was July 2013 when Hinkie traded Jrue Holiday to NOH for Nerlens Noel who had torn his ACL in February 2013, missed the NCAA tournament was expected to miss all, or most, of the 2013-14 season. In just three years as an NBA GM, Sam Hinkie has clearly established himself as the master of the preseason tank.

Noel's injury was a freak accident.

That move is turning out to be brilliant.

Noel for Jrue is robbery.

Still, it was clear, by trading his best player for a guy who was going to miss the entire season, that Hinkie was tanking in July, 2013 - and again in June 2014 when he drafted a player that had JUST announced he'd broken his foot and needed season ending surgery. Noel looks to be panning out, Embiid, not so much.

Without going on and on about this...I just don't think he is that good of a GM. He's had a ton of missed opportunities and I think much like in the way Nate was exposed as a coach and hasn't been able to recover from it. Neil has been exposed as a General Manager.

Going back to the Chris Paul trade back in his time with the Clippers. I really feel that was more about Stern and his drive to help NO and to get Paul in a larger market than it was about Neil pulling a rabbit out of his hat. Which I have never seen out of him here.
