Carl Klingberg leaves for KHL

(Hartnett): According to @champ_hockey, #NYR minor-league winger Carl Klingberg will sign with Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod of the #KHL.

Well then. I'm not sure if this took the brass by surprise or not, but it appears they didnt really do their diligence on this guy. Why not just get a pick back for Stempniak if Klingberg didnt factor into the long-term plans? We traded for him not even three months ago and he's already walking.

I liked him as a player. He was big, played an in-your-face style this team needs, and was a right shot. I thought there was a chance he could have made the team as the 13th forward, or even the 4th line RW if Fast plays up.

I kind of liked him also. However, the reality was that he wasn't beating Lindberg out next year. He's not getting a roster spot over Buchnevich when he finally comes over. I'm not a huge fan of Hrivik but there are many who like his game.

Yes, but it would still be a salary dump if you asked for a 5th round pick back instead of an impending RFA who may not (and didnt) resign.

True it's not like this guy was some stud, but just doesnt appear to be good management in my opinion.
