Carmello available?

I guess we should judge players by draft position then, if they're vaguely comparable?

Well keep it to team success then, as in Melo's teammates. It is because of Billiups and a solid team that he's even made it out of the first round in 7 trips. Theories means nothing, Carmelo Anthony has not played at Roy's level in the NBA.

College championships have nothing to do with their prime in the NBA, or how players continue to develop.

I understand what you are saying. I just disagree.

Joe Johnson and Carmelo Anthony were very silly selections on the All-NBA teams.

As you can see, Prime Roy is crushing Anthony in the post-season. Sure he was injured this year, but Melo is not a great post-season player so I can't buy this "team success" thing. Roy might have even been better than Wade in the 09 playoffs as well, Houston has a much better defense than Atlanta.

They've had similar careers so far, but my comment about Roy's Prime is accurate.

hypothetical, but ". . . because Portland has a young team that can compete for years to come with possibly two other legit all-stars (Roy Oden)." Billups and K-Mart are not getting any younger.

He's already intimated that he might like to join Amare' (and possibly CP3) in NY and play in Dantoni's wide open offense. You really think that if he had to pick between the bright lights and big market of New York and Nate's grind it snail ball and small dreary Portland that he'd pick the Blazers? If so, you're a helluva lot more optimistic than I am.

Has Carmelo said he is looking to move to a team with a wide open offense, or a team with other stars that can win? I thought he was looking to team up like LeBron did. The NY thing is a pipe dream. They wouldn't be there unless they can get Paul to join them and I don't think they will have the space to sign Paul after the other two. Not to mention this whole thing puts his money at risk by waiting a year. Who knows what the new CBA will be. What if he gets injured?

All I'm saying is if he wants to win, joining Portland would give him a better shot than he has with the aging Denver team. If he wants to risk it by playing out his deal and not getting extended just to play with Amare in NYC, then more power to him--but I think he will regret it (if he really wants to win a title).
