What Carmelo Anthony termed a “long summer” will come to an end Monday when the Knicks start training camp. The star forward, who underwent season-ending knee surgery in February, can’t wait to be back on the court.

“It’s been a long time coming,” Anthony said Sunday afternoon at his youth camp in Manhattan. “Just glad that I can be in the position I’m in right now.”

Derek Fisher said Friday that Anthony has been medically cleared. And while Anthony wouldn’t confirm he’s 100% physically, he did say he feels like his pre-injury self.

“I’m there. I’m back. I feel like myself again,” Anthony said. “Mentally, physically, I feel great. I’m just ready to go.”

Anthony said he hasn’t talked to anyone from the Knicks about his preseason workload, but he imagines both parties will want to “monitor” his activity.

“It’s a long season,” Anthony said. “There’s no need for me to kind of go after it and give it all out in the four, five days of training camp.”

The Knicks enter the 2015-16 season with an entirely revamped roster. Anthony is the only remaining player from the team Phil Jackson inherited in 2014, and the Knicks president made a point to bring in new talent this offseason.
