If Carter would just concentrate on the upcoming season rather than his contract, the Nets can certainly make a good run. I have said a lot against Vince Carter, but truth be told Carter can be a big factor to the Nets' success. Let me repeat that, he "can" be a factor. Provided that he plays more for the team rather than himself. Carter has Jason Kidd and Richard Jefferson on the same team, Vince must try to learn to work more with them. I've repeatedly said this, Carter shouldn't worry about shots. He will have his share of the ball and like I also said, Kidd will get him the ball.

Okay, let's make sure you understand this. Carter in my opinion is like a Drexler and what I mean is that he's going to end up getting a championship with another great player alongside him. Drexler needed Olajuwon and Carter has nobody else on New Jersey to do this. Why don't you leave Carter alone to what he can and can't do. He does enough for New Jersey. You should be thanking your lucky stars that you traded him from Toronto for a stupid Mourning and the other Williams. That was the worst trade in Toronto history, but we're making Jersey fans know so you don't start under-appreciating him and make the Nets suffer in the process. The most important thing is keep him happy. That's it, you'll never generate this much excitement without Carter for a long time, trust me.

I dont think the Nets are in a position to say anything to Carter. Carter can make a good run with any other team. THe nets can't make a good run without Carter. The nets have no success without Carter, and Kidd would leave too in that process. If you actually look at the stats prior to Carter getting there, they lost practically every game until that point. If Carter became unselfish, the whole team would just miss their shots out of panic then repass to Carter when they've had enough. As for the quote "Carter can be a big factor to the Nets' success", dont make it sound as though the Nets previous success wasn't because of Carter, because it was, and his highest scorer title for most games proves it. You can't even say that it's because Kidd always passes to him, because he scored much higher when he was in Toronto without a Jason Kidd. If Richard Jefferson would step up for a change, maybe Jefferson could take the highest scorer per game status since Carter is somewhat disliked, but then again, there is a reason why they keep passing the ball to him. Carter can also be a big factor if the nets lose too, ie he doesnt play. Then the Nets would end up right where they started that season before he came:

Right when I thought I was supposed to be sympathetic to the Nets fans I just realized how insultive and disrespectful they are to Carter. This is a good point. Carter does not need to do anything for the Nets, but they are supposed to do everything for him, if they want to keep him. No matter what Carter does, he can't get a break. Whatever.. I hope he leaves for Orlando because you Nets fans have absolutely NO RESPECT for him. Carter plays, the Nets win.. Carter doesn't play, let's see Kidd and Jefferson handle a load that they OBVIOUSLY cannot handle. It's Carter's Nets, not Kidd's or Jefferson's or the both of them together. Hold on here, Carter can put up numbers without Kidd. Kidd gets all his assists from Carter. It's just that simple, maybe you didn't follow Carter in Toronto. He's way more impactual than you think. If he's happy, nobody and I mean nobody, except Kobe can stop him. He's happy now, so you Nets fans are lucky. Intrepid was right, stats don't lie, the Nets sucked without him. He's happy because he got traded from Toronto, where he didn't want to be because they were supposed to hire Dr. J as a coach and got Babcock instead. He was upset about this. When he got traded to Jersey it was more about being happy and playing happy and less about whether Kidd made him play better. You have no idea what Carter can be like when he doesn't get his way.

He was averaging 15 points per game because he was acting up and not playing within the scope of whatever vision Mitchell had for him, plus he was injured or playing injured which made him play limited minutes.

Yes, if Carter is not happy, he can be a loser and whine, and it shows in his expressions. He will not play as good, when he doesn't get his way.

umm idk about the character issue, i mean your right and all but he did have a point, they went from being a huge competator in the east to absolutly nothing, and he was spoce o be the francise player and tehy said they wanted his input on issues such as the gm and coach and they didnt pay him any mind. and he has a point i mean look at what Bobcocks done.

He was the franchise player, and they listened to who he wanted on the team. I remember many players were signed/traded for, in order to please Carter. I could be mistaking though.

i think that was at the begining such as, signing alvin williams to a bigger deal, and getting hakeem (I THINK), but at the end when he didnt want o'neil as the coach and bobcock as the gm. even though it was a horriable way to go out, the fact that they dint have much other than bosh(who was only a rookie) and peterson and just three or four years befor they were a last second shot away from the eastern confrence championship if would hurt knowing you went from a threat to a laughing stock.

Hey Jefferson, your in tune. You sound like you're a Raptor fan. Yes, the worst deals came out of the last few years. The Babcock era sucked for Toronto. Carter was in the right for wanting to leave. The last year he left though, Toronto did have potential with Rose, Marshall, Bosh and Alston. It was a pretty decent team. It was a shame though. Toronto would have been a good team if Carter was happy.

They were a good team, but teams were still able to beat them. The Nets weren't the Spurs of the East but just a good east team. They were pretty beatable especially when they had the young team in 2001.
