Cartwright Still a Good Possibility for Bulls’ Bench

Any chance Billy's hopin Vinny fails miserably, so he could take over as head coach? Just a thought.

I like the sound of it for the Bulls. Del Negro steps up to the GM spot and Cartwright returns as head coach. Hopefully that's what's in the cards.

Cartwright does have head coaching experience - with the Bulls. He runs the triangle offense, which is good enough for the Lakers to make the finals AND it works well with the kind of personnel the Bulls have on the court.

I don't think Cartwright is the unknown veteran assistant given how much he has been discussed. I think Cartwright back to the Bulls is pretty much a done deal.

As a Bulls fan, you have to hope that Thibodeau is the unknown veteran assistant. He only signed a one year deal with Boston, and he might want to take on a new challenge. It seems a little unclear whether Thibo wants to remain an assistant or become a head coach.

Maybe one of the Lakers assistants, Brian Shaw or Kurt Rambis. If we draft Beasley, we will probably look long and hard at running the triangle. Cartwright knows how to run it and Rambis/Shaw could reinforce it.

Now you're just reaching dude. They may be assistant coaches right now, but there's no denying that they're on the path to being head coaches at some point down the road. Even if they were to remain in the assistant role for another year or so, I can't find one compelling reason for them to jump ship from title-contending teams (one's that only make them look like better coaching candidates) to a mess like the Bulls.

Yeah, I would say that we could get one of them...if we showed them the money...but than I remember what franchise we're looking at. (Unless they purposely went cheap on the head coach to try to get someone like Thibodeau with big money...but I seriously doubt that).

I think any assistant coach who wants to be head coach would take any decent job offered. Not necessarily caring about the team's status, as that's under his future control, but rather the terms of his own contract.

If the Bulls offered Thibo the head coaching job, I bet he'd have jumped all over it.

I really dont mind letting Cartwright go, Frank has to shake up his coaching staff. Adding former assistant coaches from the mavericks or guys like dwanye casey are known to develop young players.

I believe the reference was to them becoming assistants for the Bulls under Del Negro. I don't see them leaving the Lakers or Celtics to still be an assistant with the Bulls.
