Cavs trying to trade for Wes

To look at it another way, the GM should evaluate and place a value on every player on their roster, continually, and at all times have an idea what they'd be willing to trade each player for. So when an opportunity comes up, they should know right away if the opportunity is worth considering or pursuing. By the same token, they should be scouting every team in the league and placing a value on other team's players, and determining which players they'd make a play for if given the opportunity, and who they'd be willing to give up to get them.

I have no doubt our front office does exactly that. It's their job.

And while I agree that "the Portland Trail Blazers have no interest in moving Wesley Matthews and breaking up this nucleus", nor shoud they, everyone and every player has their price. If it were me, I'd value and price every player who makes up "our nucleus" very, very high. Chemistry and fit matter.

All that is to say that a trade involving any of our starting five, even Batum, is extremely unlikely in the near future.

It would be an easy model to make, which I'm sure management has already implemented.

Good Character = +1
Bad Character = -1
Good defender =+1
Bad Defender = -1

And so on...

Obviously certain attributes would hold higher value, but you can easily find a "total value" like PER for players. That would include leadership, character and heart

If we trade Wesley I'm not going to be happy. He has more fire than the whole team combined. He is a neccessary cog on a championship team. Why the hell else does Bron Bron want him?

Well in the past we all have heard how much Paul loves Batum. We're probably going to have to get rid of one or the other eventually.

Also there is no proof that Paul likes Batum more than some other players on our team. That isn't to say he doesn't like him just that he really likes a lot of his players.

Yes. Eventually. I myself may need to retire my sneakers some day. But today is not that day. ;)

Biggest reason Wes won't ever be a Cav is their ugly uniform. Just wouldn't be a good look for Wes. I think Wes also enjoys being more of an alpha dog in Portland instead of having those egos around him.

Lets be honest, The name LeBron James speaks volumes.

if the cavs still had wiggins id do it but no one on their roster fits here (That they would move for Wes anyways. LBJ/Love/Kyrie aren't moving for wes lol)

The Cavs would likely have to look into bring in a 3rd team.

On another note I have always thought Batum would do well at the SG position.

But let's be honest, I don't believe Wes would choose James over his teammates here in Portland. He's in a pretty good situation. As long as we continue to want him, I think it will continue to be a happy marriage.
