Could be worse:

10. LaMarcus Aldridge, Portland: All he needs is time. Aldridge is going to be a matchup nightmare for opponents because he is 6-foot-11 and can score effectively with a face-up jumper and a low-post game. He'll be even more effective -- at both ends of the floor -- playing alongside Greg Oden.

West is the only one I'd question above LMA, but I would also question Al Jefferson below him.

I think Gasol, Brand, and West are all really close to LMA in terms of production. Brand is a better player right now, but not by much. West has the advantage of playing with Chris Paul.

The next tier up (Duncan, Amare, Bosh, Garnett, etc) is clearly better than LMA right now, but he could eventually reach that level. He has the talent.

Bosh, Loozer and West aren't better than LMA

That list was hilariously bad

Bosh was pretty good last year. Better is subjective. Boozer? Maybe not. West is another up-and-coming forward in the game, but he plays differently than LMA does. I think Bosh and LMA are very similar though, in playstyle. Right now, I'd say Bosh is the more polished player, but I think LMA could very easily be as good as Bosh in the near future.

Cpaw just doesn't like Bosh. I think Bosh is definitely better, West and Boozer are arguable. After next year I think Aldridge will get more respect though.

Bosh I agree is better. West is very close but LMA is better. LMA is better than Boozer imo.

I would agree. Boozer has a longer track record for production though, so that's why he would get the nod over LMA (nationally anyway).

I must respectfully disagree. Going by last year's numbers, I'd say they all were better than LMA. That doesn't mean I don't think that LMA won't be better this year but you have to go by past production, not expected future production and in that respect, all three were better than LMA last year.

Gramps...

You gotta take into consideration that Boozer and West had top pgs to set them up.

In Boozer's case, you really can't put "stats" on his horrid defense. West has the luxury of playing with Chris Paul

NO WAY BOSH IS #4!!!!!!! I take LA over him RIGHT NOW!

Almost sounds like a speedking kind of post, but I'm on teh Aldridge banwagon.

It usally takes big men longer to develop, but Aldridge has consistently improved since being with the Blazers and it doesn't sound like he is done (working on ball handling and trying to bulk up). Just like many players, staff and press really like waht they see from Bayless, I constantly hear these kind of praises about Aldridge.

It really looks like the sky is the limit for him and there aren't a lot of players I would be interested in to take over his spot. He is of the age and has the skills that you build around him Roy and Oden . . . by typing that I realize I'm stating the obvious . . . but it does add to the post count . . .

I think Aldridge is a Bosh-like talent. Bosh is just ahead of him on the development curve.

I don't have any major qualms with the list. I think West, Aldridge and Jefferson are close and could be in any order, among themselves, and be reasonable.

Numbers are the least of my concerns. As an example, I never found Marbury to be a top PG, no matter what his production was.

Yes, Bosh has a more complete offensive game right not. However, LMA doesn't make the amount of mental mistakes Bosh does nor is he as "soft" as Bosh.

You guys are nuts if you think Aldridge is better than Bosh and Boozer. He could very well be some day but right now I'd say Bosh and Booz are both above him. That being said, I wouldn't put Bosh above Dirk (and I fuggin HATE Dirk) though Dirk did have a quiet season last year.

Also Al Jefferson should be higher up, dude's a freakin beast. Amare should be below KG.

There are a lot of PF's that could put up big numbers playing with Deron

The thing about these lists is that you have to be a proven winner. There isn't a GM in the league who would take Duncan over Amare, but Duncan is a proven winner so he tops the list. Carlos Boozer is a mistake to me, the dude has got to be the most overrated big man in the game. He has never really had to play without a great player around him.

I love all the Boozer hate.

And agree with it 100%!

I went through that list and outside of Amare Stoudemire and Bosh LMA will be better then any of the PF's listed in 2-4 years when he is in his prime. Most of the other 7 players listed ahead of LMA will be done or almost done and past their prime or are hardly any better now and LMA is going to improve where the other players are all ready in their prime. Maybe D.West is the one exception and might really improve with LMA. I really think by looking at those ranking LMA has a chance to be the best PF or no worse then top 3 in 2-4 years when is in his prime. That is if no other really good PF's coming in the draft the next couple years that are better.

I also think Oden will be no worse the top 4 center behind Yao, Howard and Bynum in 2-4 years when Oden is in his prime. I actually think Yao will be almost done and Oden will be better then Bynum. So, Howard is the only possible center that could be better then Oden in 2-4 years. I think there is a good chance Oden might be as good or better then Howard.

So, it looks like we have a chance to have the best or close to the best PF and center in the NBA. I love Roy and think he is going to be in the top 5-10 SG's. If this all happens we really will have something to watch in the next 10 years. I know your going to think I'm like Kingspeed but I do think there is a good chance if they stay healthy we could have 3 players in the top 5 no worse the top 10 at their position.

Yeah, but LMA doesn't necessarily have the offensive pressure on him that Bosh does. Bosh is the #1 option on that team, whereas LMA has Roy to share the load with. The more the ball runs through a player, the more likely he'll make mistakes. Jason Kidd was always one of the highest in turnovers, simply because he has the ball in his hands and he takes risks.

I wasn't a big fan of Bosh until I watched him in the Olympics. Reminds me a lot of KG. I don't have a problem with LMA being ranked 10th, by the end of the year I expect him to be top 7.
