Have any of you had any near misses with this?

I gotta admit, I "used" to semi-regularly text and drive, but have since realized it's an utterly stupid activity. NOW, I invariably find myself watching out for others looking down texting away (and usually weaving).

I haven't looked at the statistics regarding cell phone-related accidents, but I'd wager it's climbing. Cell phones have (and continue to) taken over our lives it appears.

Just set GPS but don't talk or text.

Unfortunately, my wife actually received a ticket when she was using GPS while driving. I'm pretty sure she had to click "I'm not driving" beforehand. At any rate, is what it is. In Tennessee, they mean 100% hands-free. Period.

GPS is hands free. I program before I start driving and just set in cup holder.

Got into a fender bender texting while driving 10 years ago and that woke me up. No mas!

Came really close to getting t-boned by an idiot that was texting while driving earlier this year. I'm a multi-tasker, but when I'm driving texts or calls can wait. No texting, don't like talking on the phone, and hardly even listen to music while I'm driving. Had people I cared about died by drunk/idiot drivers. Several years ago was almost hit by a big truck. Driver was holding a phone to his face while driving. That would've been the end of me as I was on my motorcycle.
glad you’re okay and not tyrant of squished ants

The only way to stop this is to hit them in the pocketbook....like littering....500 dollar fine....couple of those and you'll start pulling over and stop throwing fast food containers in the road ditch...I turned in a local school bus driver who I saw day after day talking on his cell phone while driving a bus full of kids home from school..after seeing him do it for the umpteenth time I finally called the school district....he lost that job.....if you talk on a phone while driving ask yourself if you want your kid's school bus driver doing that as well. For the record I don't think people should eat while driving either.

Try really hard not to text and drive. Posting on the rip city two basketball forum helps.

We've got a feature in our car that allows us to take, talk and listen to a speaker in the car without the use of our hands other than to punch a button to accept the call.
