David Stern announcement (between picks #8 and #9):

We have a trade: The Portland Trailblazers trade LaMarcus Aldridge and the 40th pick of the 2012 NBA Draft to the Charlotte Bobcats for Kemba Walker and the rights to Thomas Robinson.

Then Portland goes on to trade #11 and schwag to Sacramento for the #5.

At #5, Portland selects MKG or Beal;
At #6, Portland selects Drummond

Rebuild yes, but we utilize the value of LaMarcus before his value begins to slide.

We get TRob and our PG of the future (Kemba Walker) by trading LMA to Charlotte. This deal would require patience on the part of Blazer fans, but if we could add Beal & Drummond to this mix - and re-sign Batum and Hickson - - we can still go out and add a near-max contract this year. [Hibbert!!]

Of course! Draft night is the most fun night of the year. I simply cannot wait for Thursday to arrive HCP - - I've go my wife (she's French Canadian & Mexican) ready to make carnitas and I've got this little place up here in Canada that makes tortillas and salsa. I'll be ready!

PS: I'm not kidding about the carnitas! As far as the draft goes, I'd simply like to figure out how to acquire SAC's #5 while retaining our own #6 and all will be good come Thursday night. We may not land TRob, but we'll end up with two nice pieces for moving forward.

Why does Charlotte do this? They trade for a player in his late 20s with absolutely no chance of taking advantage of his skill until his contract is up. You guys really need to start thinking about the other teams needs as well. Great trade for Portland though

terrible for portland. not surprised mm likes it.

11, 3 million, Freeland, Claver, Matthews for 5 and a crappy salary like Salmons might do it

I think that Salmons would be the key - but we'd want to keep Matthews. Not sure how the salaries would balance out...maybe add Babbitt instead of Matthews.

Seriously, how is this terrible for Portland? We get TRob and our PG of the future (Kemba Walker) by trading LMA to Charlotte. Hurtful. I meant if the team decides to completely rebuild

If we decide to completely rebuild, I think we can do better for the #2 pick for a PF we will then hope to be as good as LMA in 4 years. And Walker, who I am meh on.

Dunno if you watched kemba play but he is not gonna be our pgotf if we get him. His ceiling is Lou Williams.

I am neither pro or anti Kemba, but his PER 36 numbers of 16/6/5 and a PER of 14.8 are pretty solid for a rookie on a shitty team. Already more assists and rebounds per 36. If he "ceilings" out at 20.2 PER like Lou Williams, I think he would be a good PGOTF....no?

a 14.9 PER on a 25+ USG is terrible for a PG regardless of age.

A TS% of 46.4% and a -0.2 OWS is horrific.

Lou Williams and kemba are short
SGs. Neither one looks like they can run a team and both are best suited as instant offense off the bench.

Aldridge won't slide for another few years. Doesn't make sense for Charlotte either as they're not going to be contending (for a playoff birth, let's be real) based off of just having LMA.

It has been reported that the Cats want a player to be the face of the Franchise more then they want to use the pick.
