Notice Chad Ford has the Blazers going heavy on international prospects in mock draft.

IF we keep all 3 picks then I think one of the three will be a Euro to stash for a year or two. But not 2 of the 3.

Edit: I take that back, only scenario where I see 2 of the 3 Euros is if we have one come over right away to play and 1 stay overseas.

Of course just my opinion.

HCP is the only one of us who can afford Insider, so who are these picks?

I

I couldn't get that to work; did you happen to see who he had slated for Blazers?
Casey details it in his rundown in the link on the tweet.
Justin Patton
Isaiah Hartenstein
Kostja Mushidi

"What I do know is that the Trail Blazers' international scout, Lojze Milosavljevic, is well-respected and dogged in his work, so if they do end up taking one more more international players, they'll have been well scouted by Portland beforehand."

I didn't know we still had one

Technically Hartenstein is a white American born center........But I guess he has been gone long enough

"For the record, I'm not nearly as convinced as Ford that the Trail Blazers will be looking to draft and stash with any of their first round picks, but it's certainly a possibility. And since he's an American citizen, maybe that's not Hartenstein's plan either."

A few things of note:
--Ford has us at 18, based on BPI, picking after both Chicago and Atlanta, who are currently either tied with or ahead of the Blazers.
--Other players he lists in the range of our first two picks (18/20) that have been discussed at length in here: Jarrett Allen (17), Bam Adebayo (19), Justin Jackson (21)
--Ford also has both John Collins and Caleb Swanigan still available at the 27, but he has us taking an 18-year-old draft-and-stash guard.

Let's say we get the 17th pick, plus 20 and 27. If Ford's projections were right, we could come away from the draft with Allen, Jackson, and Swanigan--all players who could conceivably come in and contribute immediately. I'd much rather see something like that than what Ford projects. Actually, I'm already excited just thinking about that (despite knowing it won't happen).

Hartensteins dad is German. Mom is American, so I guess he's both. I think he'll come over though.

So much depends on if we can sit tight in the 8 seed, I'm less confident now.

I don't think there's a chance in hell that we keep all these picks.

draft and stash makes little sense with the dearth of bigs we have, there is frankly no need for the bench fodder guys like Quarterman/PatC/Layman IMO

The last pick we have in the 1st will earn about 2.5. I guess we could stash him but I don't think we will either.

Full Mock:

I do not believe they'll stash over both Justin Jackson and Ivan Rabb (especially the former).

worked for me.

edit:
Markkanen plays like the prototypical NBA 4. He's an elite shooter who can stretch the floor, make plays and still do work in the paint.
OK, a guy who can't rebound or block shots is now the definition of a "prototypical NBA 4"? I feel old, now, thanks.

Kostja Mushidi is a high IQ player with the build of PJ Tucker.

Could be a Malcolm Brogdon type of combo guard. One comp I've seen used for his ceiling: Andre Miller.

Random Note:
Sac has picks 7 and 10.

10 for 17 and 20?

Sac went quantity last year, but still have a lot of oldies on the roster.

Don't worry he'll change it in a few years to better reflect the actual draft.

Lol. That dude is such a clown.

On a different note: I'll probably have a 1st-round mock draft contest this year, and score it like such:

Correct Pick: 5 Points
Within 1 Pick: 3 Points
Within 3 Pick: 1 Point
Correct Team, Wrong Pick: 2 Points
(So say someone had us taking Hartentstein 16th, and we took him 20th, that'd be 2 points).

Maybe I could hook the winner up with something. It'd be fun and bragging rights for the winner. Would also score DraftExpress, Chad Ford, and others to see how some of us stack up against the "experts".

At this point aren't they just slotting players and not taking team needs into account?

I definitely think they'll trade down. They need young talent badly, and don't have their 2019 pick (it's unprotected to Philadelphia, idk how PHI pulled that off).

Ntilikina would probably be available at 10, and he'd be a great pickup. He's a 6'5 PG with no weaknesses in his game. His jumper is iffy, but if he develops that, he'd be the top 6th man in the league and would give us a beastly 3-guard rotation. Would probably be as effective as Turner, with more potential, and would allow us to dump Turner's contract.

HELL, I just looked and apparently Ntilikina has a 7-FOOT WINGSPAN!! My god, the dude could probably play SF. He has PG skills. This is my new favorite pickup.

@Rastapopoulos @Fez Hammersticks I haven't heard either of you talk about Ntilikina. What do you guys think about him?

Would you do that deal if it were reversed? People would riot.
