There's no way we let Travis go for nothing. We either trade him in-season, re-sign him ourselves or do a sign and trade.

Chad Ford: "I watch the Blazers maybe twice a year. I really know what I am talking about.":devilwink:

Ford has been one of the most myopic commentators, especially regarding Blaverville. I take most of his comments like sand blowing in the wind.

I would definitely prefer that we get something for him instead of just letting him go for nothing, but his value can't be very high around the league, so he'd have to be packaged with a couple of other players.

Do you think Rudy Gay has value? Of course, some wanted KP to just renounce Blake and Outlaw this summer, FWIW.

I don't really think Travis fits on this team. However, it's not like he's Sergio Rodriguez. TO has real value in this league and if put on the market, would attract some serious interest.

If there ever was a deal involving Outlaw, I suspect there will be another player involved. Possibly for a big man. Maybe include Bayless? I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but for the most part, if we could grab a banger to back up Aldridge may be a very good thing.

I disagree. Lots of teams need players who can create their own shots. PHX, GS, DAL, MIA and many others come to mind.

Hmmm, do you have any rationale to back up the assertion?

- We didn't use Raef's trade value
- It seems we've let several people walk without getting any value back the past few years

Unless there is a perceived value-add trade or the price tag for Outlaw is low enough, I can easily see the Blazers just letting him walk.

Gramps...

I thought TO had been "unofficially" on the market for much of the past year as the Blazers looked for possible trades/upgrades.

I don't think it is a matter of his being on the market or not, I think it is more of a matter of KP probably valuing him too high and thus turning down potential trades.

I would say Rudy Gay has more value than Outlaw because he is younger and has more potential, but i'm sure the Grizzlies wouldn't get as much back as they would look for in a trade.

Raef was just cap room. He holds no "justifiable" value in terms of filling a need. And for the most part, there weren't many "free-agents" readily available during the offseason. And there is no real proof that KP sat on Raef. For all we know, he may have been lighting up the phones before the trade deadline.

In those instances we clearly valued cap space over what we could get for those players. We no longer have cap space, so TO's value only has to be greater than the savings in PA's pocket.

Meh, you're probably right, if he can fit into the right system where he can chuck to his hearts content, it would be better for him anyway, he just doesn't fit here.

Rudy Gay = Kevin Durrant light
Travis Outlaw = Rudy Gay light

Rudy Gay does not pique my interest. It may be my perception but I just don't see a complete all-around game nor adequate defense and we already have enough guys on this team that can/should get their shots.

We were in the wilderness for so long, it's a strange thing to wrap one's head around: We no longer can just look at production. We have to look at who fits our very specific style and chemistry.

There's no doubt that TO can fill it up. The Travis of today would have been amazing on this team from 1995-2006. However, we're a different team now. We seek fit over talent. I'm still not quite used to it.

hahahaha... thats like saying... i doubt the kings makes the playoffs!

really? no shit chad.

Like who? The only rotation player I can think of is Sergio. Everyone else was either dealt for value (I'm sure KP thought he got a big upgrade trading Jarrett Jack for Bayless) or wasn't worth keeping around (Shavlick, Von Wafer, etc.)

I am unsure that Outlaw has much value around the league. He doesn't defend a position well, doesn't get to the line very well and doesn't rebound. He's a guy who can create his own shot, sure, but the shots he creates aren't particularly effective.

Given that he will probably get less than an MLE deal, though, I would imagine some other team would take a chance on him if the Blazers don't.

I have some outsider information:

Outlaw will retire a Blazer.

KP loves him, Nate loves and most importantly Roy loves him.

Portland will resign him. I have not one doubt in my mind.

Same with Blake.

Neither of these moves make me very happy, though.

Well, how much is Travis going to look for next summer? He's going to be in a tough bind with all the other FAs coming out. If he thinks he's worth $7-8 mil, then no thanks. If he wants to re-sign for his current $3-4 mil, then I wouldn't have a problem keeping him around.

Send him to NY for Wilson Chandler

He's a good rebounder and decent defender.

Travis would thrive in the SSOL system. He'll get his shots and he wont be required to think a lot.

What? Everybody outside of Blazer fans doesn't think Travis Outlaw is the "Awesomest"?? Sacriledge!:pokecrap:

I think you are right here. KP seems to over value his own guys. If either the Conley for Trout or Harris for Trout rumors were true then KP missed the boat big time.

Yes. Blazer fans think that Outlaw is the "Awesomest". Um, no.

Some think he isn't the steaming pile of crap that "Blazer fans" paint him to be on this board. I'm one of those.

I'm still having a hard time getting over the Vince Carter for a half-eaten bag of pretzels deal that KP passed on last year.

And what specifically was that deal?

...all I have to say about this is, "TO must GO, just like zBO!!!"
