Chad Fords latest on Blazer Trade talks - updated 3:08pm pst

Welcome to our community

Be a part of something great, join today!

Part of me wonders if we offered something prior to the Ruffin deal and Charlotte asked for more, so maybe Ruffin is a way for us to up the ante in our deal for Wallace?

That's my hope.

It sounded to me like the deal wasn't that far off, but it couldn't quite be consummated. Hopefully, this TE provides the tipping factor.

I still think it's going to be for Vince or Wallace. Everyone got excited once the one deal went down and now that its been quiet for a few hours we are kinda worrying. I think we'll be fine, and so far KP's track record gives me reassurance.

BTW, nice to see the old BBB.net people again. BBF is horribleeeee.

Dude... glad you made it! Welcome :)

Does anyone know the trade that the Bobcats declined (according to Chad Ford) BTW? It says we offered something this afternoon. Part of me wonders if we offered something prior to the Ruffin deal and Charlotte asked for more, so maybe Ruffin is a way for us to up the ante in our deal for Wallace?

Hmm.... interesting.

maybe, just maybe, mixum will leave the forum in complete self destruction if we don't make a deal. i'm starting to warm to the idea of no trade if it means mixum leaves us, at least for the rest of the season.

By this you mean you don't like him? Lots of people have been saying things like this.

I think a few of those guys were NJ fans that had something against RJ. From what I have seen and read he is a good locker room guy and player.

What's up Blazer Freak!
I'm glad I finally made the switch, I've mostly just been checking BBF for any news, but I finally decided to jump aboard. Seems to look like the old BBB.net to me. Looks like I made the right move, only downside is Mixum's back, I guess we'll see how that goes.

Hey at least if we had Vince, we'd get some Ref Love. no more 5 v 8....

He's given up on defense and he's a prima donna (no legal trouble, though). He's a volume shooter, and cannot create for his teammates well. He'd demand the ball when you already have LMA and Roy, both of whom are much better than RJ offensively.

You are MUCH better off with Carter, even if you have to give him a buyout. He and Roy would be a great combination. Both can create with the best in the league, and would make up for the Blazers lack of a legit PG.

We don't want VC even though he is a good player. RJ fits in with the Blazers probably better then anybody that has been mentioned in rumors in the last couple days. I'm not saying RJ is better then some of those players but fits better. Myself I rather have Butler if there was anyway to get him.

He is NOT a good locker room guy.

I have nothing against him. I loved him in his early days, when he used to play his heart out.

He gave up, and cared more about scoring than winning, and it sucked to see him and Kidd say "Fuck it" at the same time.

.. and VC didn't in Toronto.

VC has matured, though. He's perfectly content with staying in NJ and tutoring the young guys. He invited the players to his house in the summer for a players only practice. You know, when the Nets were projected to be the worst team in the league

Maybe he has matured but IMO NJ can keep VC and his huge contract.

My top 4 would be

1.Wallace
2.Butler
3.Jefferson
4.Carter

But I think Carter would bring the most excitement to the team and the fans just because we used to dream of seeing Carter's name on the back of a Blazers jersey. But I think Wallace, Butler or Jefferson would be better for the team chemistry. I just hope we don't get someone like Deng or Hinrich or Lee.

I agree. I'd much rather have Carter. His age is the only downside, but if he were in his 20s, he wouldn't be available.

Carter is the best leader out of those 4, but I'd take Wallace and Butler because of contract and age.

What's the furthest Vince has been in the postseason? I know Jefferson has at least been to a finals, Wallace hasn't done anything worthy of remembrance and Butler I can't remember. Was he with Miami or LA when they were making finals appearances?

Fine then, I'll take Darko over Karl Malone.

RJ played an important role on the finals teams: Run, and play defense.

He doesn't play defense anymore, and your starting 5 doesn't run.

Wow, i totally didn't mean for my post to sound like i was questioning vince's abilities. I actually want Carter over RJ.

I was actually curious to see what Vince's playoff experience was, seriously!

I know he was in the playoffs with Toronto... he might have gotten to the ECF, but I don't think so.

i don't see how anyone would want jefferson over carter. look at carters stats, they are identical to roy's. his contract is bad but im sure he can be productive for the rest of it

No, no, a thousand times no.

He is getting micro-fracture surgery within the week. Considering his history of knee and back problems, this is probably the end of his career.

Battier's not having surgery, is he... and he's the one that the Blazers get in that deal.

I would rather have RJ the VC. I agree VC stats are good and he is a good player but not worth his contract and he is to old for this team. He has 2 years max at playing at this level maybe not even that long. I just don't think KP wants VC with that huge contract and being his age but I have been wrong once before.

One more thing is I think this is our one last chance to add another real good player to our team before we are way over the cap. I just don't think KP wouldn't add VC with maybe only getting 2 more years when we could be adding a Butler, Wallace, RJ or someone at least here for the next 4-5 years and at least helping us compete to win it all. I don't think we can win it all in the next couple years.

Doh!

I sort of assumed the first column was Portland. My bad.

I would love to get Shane.

Carter has one more year than RJ BUT it's only partially guaranteed, I think at around 5 million.

Carter is payed more than RJ, but all things considered, I'd rather have Carter's play and ability than RJ's.

VC has two more years guaranteed at 16+ and 17+ million with a team option for the third at 17+ million. I don't know where you got 5 million.

canzano says its just for cap in 09.

well that pretty much takes the wind out of our sails and teh above post.

looks like pritchard wants lotoo again. gets us all excited for the draft with trade talk AND DOES FUCKING NOTHING

Im so fucking mad after reading the above post from chad ford

1. I'm pleased as punch that we're baking as planned.

2. Pritchard never said anything to suggest he was trading anybody, therefore do not blame your excitement on him.

3. Chad Ford continues to throw names against the wall, hoping one will stick and make him look smart. I guess there's always the possibility of a first time.

So, about 3 times his actual value.

A Net for life.
