Barca's attempts to lure Fabregas demonstrated a lot of pompousness both in the team brass and the players.

I understand the hate from Arsenal fans. The way the Cesc drama has played out the past 2 years is tiring. But, a lot of that has to fall on his shoulders as well. I actually don't want him on the club. At least not now. Unless there was an injury, he'd end up just being a rotational player. Right now he isn't going to take over Xavi's or Iniesta's spot. And the way Pedro has emerged, you can't drop him, movie Iniesta to the wing, where he has played before, and put Cesc in Iniesta's spot. Of course Iniesta is pretty frail, so he could go down at anytime and in the next couple of years Xavi is going to have to take a reduced role, but for now the transfer doesn't make sense.

The Cesc fiasco aside, I still don't see how they can be viewed any more cocky than the other top clubs.

I'm just curious as to why you think Barca is cocky, when Ronaldo is famously the most cocky player in the world.

This. Plus the guy roots for the Celtics. Garnett, Pierece and Rondo...yup, no one is cocky on that team.

barca fans coming out!!! lol

and I root for Celtics, not a player fan, could care less who's on my team as long as we're winning. ;)

So do I. I root for them because although I've always loved soccer, not having cable tv really limited my exposure to the European game pre internet. Then in 2005 I lived in Barcelona for a while and fell in love with the city, the team and the local fans. I just found it funny that your first post in here was about how they deserved to lose because they were "cocky mfers" all the while you root for Boston and Real.

I root for Barca, not necessarily their players. Although, I'm not sure if I could ever root for a team that Ronaldo played for, and I never have.

What about RM and some of their players trying to do the same thing?

That's cool you root for them, they're still cocky mfers though, If you've followed football for past 10-15 yrs, you'd know why. And the only reason I root for Real is because its the only team that can compete against them in la liga, my main teams I follow are Utd and Munich.

Well I was specifically talking about the Catalan ****s, especially Xavi and team executives that can't keep Cesc's name and DNA out of their mouths.

I don't have an opinion of Real one way or another. Frankly that league is a waste of time. If I want to watch two teams compete for the championship every year I can watch Celtic/Rangers.

@paulaaLFC 0f course! and Szczesny, Walcott, Koscielny had a great game ...

The quarter final ties are set

Man Utd vs Chelsea
Real Madrid vs. Spurs
Barca vs Shakhtar Donetsk
Inter vs Shalke

Who you got?

I think Man Utd will get by Chelsea, but nothing really to back this up. I think Real will get through, but will be pulling for Spurs. I don't like him all that much, but Jose is one hell of a coach. Especially in this format. I'm a little scared about the Barca tie. Hopefully it's warmed up in the Ukraine by the match day there (luckily it is the 2nd leg), because in the past few years we've had mixed results at best that far east. Lastly, I think Inter gets through. They just seem l like their on a roll that will get the through at least this next round.

If Barca and Real make it through it means they will play each other 3 times while I'm in Spain. El Classico in Madrid, the Copa del Rey final in Valencia and the first leg of the semi's. Does anyone here know how they determine the who the home side is in the first leg? Is it based on how they ranked to start, or group stage results? Or is it random? I'm crossing my fingers that Barca gets through and hosts the first leg of the semi's. I'd love to go to a CL semifinal game!
