<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Platehpus:</div><div class="quote_post">I agree with this post, while I disagree with most of what Tribute to H20 said. C-Webbs skillset in his prime was so ridiculous, and if he didn't have the motivation/injury problems we'd probably be talking about him a lot more these days. I also think that Channing Frye is more than just a "really good roleplayer", because I think he's shown that he knows what to do (not all the time) when he gets the ball in the paint and when he has to, he crashes the boards. It's going to be interesting to see how our young guys pan out, I don't think Frye will be our best but I'm sure he'll play an integral part of our future.</div>
What do you disagree with exactly? Tell me where does all this superstar stuff come from? I've given reasons why he's just a role player and all I've gotten back is "he's just a rookie" and "Agguire is helping him with his post up game".
Can somebody give me a good reason why they think Frye will be more than just a good role player? Can someone tell me why they think Frye will be better than Kurt Thomas? I'll say why Frye will just be a good role player again just in case anyone forgot. He is a mediocre rebounder, has no post up game and simply cant create his own shot. Anyone who thinks Agguire can teach him to be a good low post scorer is just fooling themselves. Agguire couldnt turn Mohammed into a good low post scorer and Mohammed has better tools than Frye. Frye doesnt have the muscle and cant put on the muscle to fight in the low post and be effective. Frye is and always will be a strictly jumpshooting big man. He's not going to be Tim Duncan or Bob Macadoo or Chris Webber. He's not going to be Brad Miller since Brad Miller is a much, much better passer and unless Vlade Divac comes out of retirement and joins the Knicks it's going to stay that way. Frye compares favorably with one of Miller's teammates however. That would be Darius Songaila. Both are jumpshooting big men, mediocre rebounders, incapable of creating their own shot and are destined to be role players for the entire careers. If Frye was on a decent team noone would be comparing him to greats like Duncan or Macadoo or Webber. If/When this team gets better it will become more and more obvious the only reason why Frye looked so good is because the team was pretty bad. I say we trade him while his trade value is still unreasonably high. Now can someone, anyone give me a good explanation why they disagree with my assessment?
Anyway I think Isiah Thomas should be fired.
