uh! you talkin to me?

None other! You pulled the subject back to waterboarding, which is 1) about 1% of torture. 2) Also, you're thinking of how an American waterboards another American for practice, not to an enemy whose blood is pooled in the shower room from the beatings already received.

And once again, I call bull shit. Check it out. The use of waterboarding did not become a big deal until 2012 https://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/06/...ng-by-cia-human-rights-watch-report-says.html

This started the hard core turn around. During the 90s and 2000s, there was only minor resistance toward the practice, although most in the know found it to be effective, regardless of how the left wing reported it in the mid teens.

So, how does that go?? Stuff your condescending attitude....naw, just sick of you talking out you ass, under the cover of mindless masses.
Most of the experts that I've heard say it is ineffective.

How about tone it down a little, else people are gonna think you're out of control.

Advocated torture. Used to work in a psychiatric hospital. I can only imagine his experiments.

I believe his neoconservative views were harmful to the nation.

Something strange going down in this forum. I don't understand it, at all.

I post this RIP for Mr Krauthammer, the day he passed. Not a peep. Lanny post another for reasons unknown.
Then the forum goes nuts competing for the most hateful post.

WTF is up with that?

Waterboarding was often in the media long before that.

Pro-torturers divert the issue to waterboarding, a small subset of torture. But since you're unafraid of it, how about volunteering like some media pontificators did (and then backed out). For example

https://thinkprogress.org/when-will...-to-be-waterboarded-for-charity-283df6447ad8/

Also, read the bottom, about search engines and Facebook not connecting to liberal newssites, to drive them out of business.

You pulled the subject back to waterboarding

Actually, you said waterboarding as above. I merely asked a strait forward question about the reason for the fear of it.
Not pulling anything anywhere. but it sure as hell triggered you. Carry on!

Let see...dude jumps on a thread..talks shit about a man that has done far more for this country than anyone on this board, so I call him out....hmm, guess thats fine in your book. Cant just say RIP, or just pass on the subject, hell no the paint licking booger eater has to disrespect the dead..pffff

and you were in the service? must have been drafted
Yep, was drafted. My dad said I was going to learn the manual of arms whether I went in the military or not.

Every man in my family, all my uncles, father, brother, stepfather and his only brother, were in the military. All were in the Army except my brother who was a Marine. Two uncles were at Normandy in the paratroopers, one was at Anzio and in Korea in the paratroopers, my dad served on a B-17, one uncle was in the Bataan Death March, I was in combat in 1968 and now am permanently disabled going up to the VA hospital about 4 times a week. While in combat we underwent about 4 rocket attacks per week. I've had about two dozen surgeries as a result. I take about 24 pills a day and several shots. I have to watch my diet due to my disabilities. I manned a machine gun in combat. I've had three friends killed in combat in that war. I've got a U.S. flag and an Army flag on my 20 foot lighted flag pole with a gold eagle on top. So don't be giving me any shit about my right to say whatever the hell I want.

I was in engineering school when I was drafted. I went back to engineering school when I got out. Had to recover a bit first. Walked with a cane for a while. God Damned any man who'd question my patriotism! After engineering school, I worked on and helped design some of the best electronics in the world. While I worked at Emerson Electronics' Electronics and Space Division I worked on an anti tank vehicle that worked with the Copperhead artillery and other smart munitions that I hope saved lives in the Gulf War. While at Boeing I worked building the box that shoots the largest and most accurate nuclear missile in the world. I also helped build a cruise missile and the V-22 Osprey. I then went on to sit on a high level panel to improve the producibility of all of Boeing's jumbo jets.

My age and disabilities have caught up with me. I now have trouble walking more than a few steps without a cane and that's on a good day.

I want you to shut up about my military or civilian contributions.

Maybe many have used the ignore function...hiding the thread....I'll chime in here...RIP....and PEEP....I never followed the man's career so have no real opinion about his work....from what I've read, he sounds like the consummate professional.

This was a man of perspective. I enjoyed his work, I shall miss him.
A man that was disappointed in Trump becoming President.
The second sentence does show great perpective...

Lanny, I once stated that you had the right to say and post any damn thing you want. I will also support @DaLincolnJones in his right to do the same.
I suspect you might feel better if you did the same. But continue with your right even if you will not do the same for other Vets.

ridiculous post...assumptions are pretty sensationalized there...as a vet...I find Lanny quite respectful myself......notice the disrespect for his service didn't garner your attention...probably because of your penchant for political comraderie

and you were in the service? must have been drafted
notice you "liked" this post Marz…...Lanny being a disabled Viet Nam vet and a patriot...I found it offensive....and disrespectful to all the Viet Nam vets who were "drafted"….there were a lot of us. I was going to be drafted, my grades got me into NTC radio school early...I preferred the Navy. Lanny stood a post in country ….glad I didn't have to do that

Most guys in Vietnam and in the Army were drafted. The morning I was drafted they took about 8 of us and drafted them (almost me) into the USMC.

Even the guys who were regular Army were mostly guys who were drafted and in one swoop of the pen, separated from the Army and re-upped for an additional period of time so they could get into some special training. I chose to remain a draftee with a service number that began with 'U' 'S'. Toward the end of Basic I regretted not going regular Army (4 years) because I was scared of going into combat. My test scores were pretty good, e.g. IQ - 147; Math - 154. I wound up with a lengthy school at Ft. Monmouth, N.J. (now defunct), where the Army's crypto school was. Still wound up filling sandbags, pulling guard duty, undergoing numerous rocket attacks and manning a machine gun. Did I mention that I got to burn human shit? Probably not, not the proudest moment in my military career.

So, DaLincolnJones derides me although I survived the Tet Offensive, and he walked the decks of a ship, I suppose, all safe and sound. Even knowing all this about him, he could not have done better if he were in a foxhole in combat, than to have me in the foxhole with him. We would both have survived or both have perished together.

Like I said, I usually ignore your blather, just every once in a while its like watching the dumb kid lick windows and eat boogers, I just have to swat you up side the head.
What a rude thing to say.

and you were in the service? must have been drafted[/QUOTE]

I'd like to add that my father, who really wanted me to follow up on my orders and go to Vietnam, told me that as a father he felt obligated to offer me the option of going to Canada rather than Vietnam. I told him thanks but no thanks 'cause if I didn't go someone else would have to fill my place. So, I went and now I'm disabled but it was my choice.

I just recently got back from church where I was admonished to open my heart to refugees fleeing to the United States and to others no matter how difficult. So, I'm going to apologize to you if I came down on you too hard. I lost my temper and I'm sorry for that.

Yeah, I am aware of you service record. I have seen you post about it before. I have tons of respect for your service and I do owe you an apology, as I went too far with the drafted comment.

Thank you.

Apologies that are the most difficult are also the most important. I reiterate my apology to you.

What a rude thing to say.

I guess the main part of the post, aside from the point that I have stated as to being in poor taste, pretty much explains my feelings about this poster that you continue to stick up for. Lanny , for the past year I have watched you pile on every left wing fuster cluck, bang the gong with harsh comments and defend the same crap that I have bagged on the poster for doing.

Honestly, just boggles my mind..how can a guy, that appears to have been a boy scout, go to the dark side (as to not offend, this is a disclaimer, the last sentence in intended in jest)
