Chauncey Billups?

Buyer Beware. He only wants to go to a contender, or anti Portland

You see the reports on him today! He is telling everybody NOT to pick him up, it would be bad for their teams!

After the new CBA in place, a player gets waived, gets paid 14 million and threatens to destroy teams that pick him up off waivers so he can go play for the vet minimum on one of 3-4 teams. Small market teams that could use him won't touch him now.

The NBA is so fucked up.

Why not bid the minimum and try to trade him?

and he'll end up being on the team he wants to be on, and nothing will be done about it. welcome to Vince McMahons NBA.

Because according to him, if you bid on him he will either retire or lead a player revolt against the team.

“I’ m tired of being the good guy,” Billups told Yahoo! Sports by phone on Saturday afternoon. “I’m tired of being viewed as the guy. After a while, you just kind of get taken advantage of in these situations. I’ve been known as a leader, and I am a leader, but a leader can be as disruptive as he can be productive, especially when you carry a strong voice and people rally around you. This is about me now. This is about me, and teams should know that right now.”

I feel so sorry for Chauncy. I mean, the guy has been in the league so long and he's never won a title or been to the finals, or hell, even the eastern conference finals repeatedly.

And the way he gets taken advantage of while making 14 million . . . it really isn't fair. No man should have to go through that.

Obviously there is no way we can pick him up since we have no cap space.

I bet Denver picks him up for a million or two then probably trades away Andre Miller for cash and a couple second round picks. Doing both moves could actually net them more cap space when all is said and done. Other potential bidder is Clippers.

His comments won't stop teams from bidding at least the minimum amnesty waivers, but it may make teams submit smaller bids.

A person should have the right to choose who he/she works for, no matter how much he/she makes. At this stage of his career winning is more important to Billups than anything else and he should have the right to choose what team he plays for.

That's why there is free agency. Billups wanted security instead, so he chose to sign a long term contract. That's on him. If he truly wanted the right to play where he wanted, he should have signed a 1 year deal

He is choosing to play in the NBA. Nobody is forcing him to make millions.

Really? If that's the case then a teams ownership should be able to employ anyone they choose for whatever price they are willing to pay. A true free market with no need for a CBA. Might be interesting to witness the carnage and Portland could end up with a great team.

No thats not how it works for NBA players. They are entitled to both the long term money of a multi-year guaranteed contract and the flexibility to work in whatever city they so choose on a whim.

What? Chauncey Never won a title? Are you kidding?
A certain Detroit Pistons team doesn't ring a bell?

LOL ya. I just love these guys that say "it's about me NOW" LOL it's ALWAYS been about them. Like someone said earlier. If NBA players want the right to work where they want, NBA owners should have the right to terminate their employment when they want

Hmmm, I thought it's possibly sarcasm but I didn't really get the joke so I was thinking, maybe no-one remembers that Detroit team and it was a great team! and Chauncey was finals MVP. Yes, I probably should have figured out not Everyone forgot about it, should have realized it must be sarcasm.

Don't like Chauncey. His pull up threes on fast breaks are horrible.

And I want to see Nolan play.
