At first blush though, no firsts exchanged this year so far; the raptors ‘did’ net first round draft capital for siakam though.

well, 2025 first round picks are probably way more valuable than were 2024 first round picks

We're seeing most trades done in the offseason. Last year very low activity at the trade deadline as well.

Plenty of picks moved hands in the offseason. Spurs got multiple first round picks for cap space. Nets got a haul of picks for Bridges.

Blazers have instead prioritized assembling this $100+ million joke of veteran core on this roster over the summer. It was very predictable and likely to play out exactly as it has. Every one of these contracts was handed out or acquired by Cronin so we're well past the time of trying to blame Olshey or whatever excuse for the Blazers mess.

The spurs got one pick SWAP 7 years from now for taking on 37 million dollars of Harrison Barnes

I think the Spurs actually wanted Barnes to help fill out their roster. He's started every game for them and has fit pretty well into what the Spurs are trying to do. He's posting career highs in TS% and 3ptFG%. Sure looks like the Spurs decided to compete for the play-in this season

they have manged their payroll really well and could have 40M in cap-space next off-season. Their only 'questionable' contracts are for Devin Vassell and Zach Collins. For some reason Zach has been relegated to a small role. He's only averaging 5 pts and 3 rebs in 13 minutes

Right, the Spurs got that unprotected swap from the Kings in one trade. They also got an unprotected FRP from the Wolves. The third thing they got was a top1 protected swap from the Wolves.

There were a lot more FRP exchanging hands in the summers than at trade deadlines.

They traded a lotto pick this year to get that future Minnesota pick.
They used their cap space to get one future swap

at the top, yes. so far the back half of the first round is looking a little meh this year as compared to 2024.

The only thing that’s rumbling is that burrito I had for lunch in my stomach.

Which is leading to questionable farts

Ben Sullivan (born March 19, 1984) is an American basketball coach and former player who is currently an assistant coach for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was previously an assistant coach with the Atlanta Hawks and the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA. A former center at Cal State Northridge and the University of Portland, Sullivan has primarily served as a shooting coach during his NBA coaching career.[1]

Sullivan joined the San Antonio Spurs front office in 2012 as a video intern on the recommendation of then-Spurs assistant Ime Udoka.

Sullivan was named an assistant coach on former Spurs assistant Mike Budenholzer's coaching staff for the Atlanta Hawks on August 20, 2014.

Sullivan was one of a number of assistants who joined Budenholzer when the latter was hired as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks before the 2018–19 NBA season.[4][5] While in Milwaukee, Sullivan has worked with NBA Most Valuable PlayerGiannis Antetokounmpo in developing his shooting ability, which has been considered as the main weakness in the Bucks star's basketball game.[2] Sullivan won his first NBA championship when the Bucks defeated the Phoenix Suns four games to two in the 2021 NBA Finals.[6]

Before the 2021–22 NBA season, Sullivan was hired as an assistant coach by the Boston Celtics.[7]

On July 3, 2023, Sullivan was hired by the Houston Rockets as an assistant coach.[8]

What a resume.

after last night's dismal performance and this home stand Billups really needs to go, question will mgmt make that decision, I have serious doubts on that

I just don't see why it matters.

The problem is the vets Cronin assembled. Ant goes 0-9, with his horrible defense you couldn't have worse contributions.

Although Ayton might be the one player with worse defense than Ant.

It really doesn't matter unless we have a good replacement lined up.

Main thing is we got the loss and the young guys played.

Cronin might need a scapegoat soon. Also, development matters. Minutes don't necessarily mean that.

But if we don't have a quality replacement lined up then minutes are pretty much all they can get.

Bjork? Let him finish the season and then find a permanent hire. Only trouble with that, I can totally see them giving him the job to save themselves the time and money of hiring someone more legitimate. Almost anyone would be a step up from CB.

The tank and hopeful vet sale is clearly on at this point.

I mean, Grant is now up to 7 (!!) consecutive missed games with a face contusion. I don't think anyone else in NBA history has missed 7 games with a face contusion.

I don't think there's ever been a guy in the NBA who was more concerned about fashion, either.

It wasn't that anyone was better, it was that the team went as far as they could with him as the coach.

And the GM never did anything and never would've done anything to improve the roster, so why stay with the status quo?

Wilkins
Cheeks
McMillan
Billups
have a combined winning % under .500

Ramsay
Schuler
Adelman
Carlesimo
Dunleavy
Stotts
Winning % almost .600

not sure what the difference is, but we should focus on that to be better maybe?

Cheeks has a winning percentage over .500. Why would you include him in the under .500 black, err, I mean bad side?
