Sorry I don't agree. While I agree with you that Jason Quick isn't the best source, in the situation I tend to believe him. The reason being, is that when negotiations are not going as an agent wants them to and they think some pressure needs to be added they leak to the press. This has been done for years, and this is the exact type of situation that this would happen.

Well.. the good thing is I don't think it can get any worse than a report saying your team is not giving the franchise player he wants, can it?

The article also appeared on the front page of the Sports section in the printed Oregonian, which actually makes me believe that either Roy's agent or LMA's agent leaked this information to Quick. Whether the information is true or not, I don't know, but I believe that Quick was at the very least told the information by one of the players' agents.

People love to criticize Quick yet they get all giddy about a twitter that says a person of interest is on a plane to Portland. Sad.

Besides, why don't the Blazers and Roy have a deal yet? What could possibly be holding it up other than what Quick has reported?

Aldridge I can understand. There's not an exact number for him. Roy is easy - max deal for 5 years.

Roy could have just said something like Kobe did, like GM is too busy to worry about extending a contract right now, let him do his thing and worry about Roy later. Kobe said that to his GM. Same type ish.

Chill the fuck out everyone.

My inside sources (Blazer coach, Marc Iavaroni) confirm this report.

People are so selective of what they want to believe.

Quick reports Millsap story ---> Everyone believes.

Quick reports contract story ---> Quick is a douche.

I made it through almost four pages of that original thread before I had the same reaction.

I'm guessing your reaction time was a bit quicker.

It's all coming crashing down. Roy's pissed off and he's gonna take his qualifying offer and leave us high and dry. This blows.

dammit, why isn't every other post "in pritch we trust"? this was the mantra throughout other terrible moves and screw ups he's done.

y'all chose to give him the free pass and now you're upset?

sorry but you've got it wrong. Quick is a douchebag period.

The Millsap story brings up an interesting possibility that we can mull over and discuss the different facets of. If you reread the recent thread here you'll see that quite a few posters hold off on accepting it at face value in part because of who reported that Portland has interest. Personally I was just as interested in Millsap two days ago as I am today. He's a quality young RFA on an over the lux tax rival that Portland would seem to be able to target. The 3 way Hinrich thing is another interesting thing to discuss. But a poster posting their thoughts about the Blazers making some move suggested in an article doesn't mean that poster believes this deal is really on the table. We're nobodies just blathering about possibilities because we like to talk Blazer hoops.

STOMP

How about some details about his terrible moves and screw ups. Not just 'he should have made a deal', details....like what deal?

Zach Randolph trade.

Not using RLEC contract.

This year's draft.

I think it will get done, but I also agree that there is no reason this shouldn't have been signed yesterday. Here is a look back through recent years when stars signed their extensions. I will include some of our non stars as well.

Deron Williams signed his extension last year about 10 days after the official signing period. (July 18th)

Chris Paul signed his the first day (July 9th)

Danny Granger didn't sign his until Oct. The day before the cutoff (Oct 31st)

Martell Webster was also extended close to the deadline. (Oct 30th I think)

Dwight Howard signed his about a week after the official signing period started (July 12th)

Emeka Okafor signed on July 31st

Luol Deng July 30th

Iggy was extended around Aug 11th

Lebron James July 9th

Dwayne Wade July 13th

Chris Bosh July 14th

Travis Outlaw Oct sometime as well I think

Just a quick list. The dates might be a day off on a couple, but regardless, they are really close. It shows that only a couple of players were extended the day of, and most were a week later. Some even the following month

Wrong.

Quick "The Douche" reports Millsap story. Plausible story. Scenario fits within the known universe. Passes the "smell test". Potential positive outcome. Posters react to the possibilities. Debate the ramifications.

Quick "The Douche" reports Roy extension story. Not plausible. Wrong or missing data. Doesn't pass the "smell test". Some posters stay calm. Some posters freak out, start calling KP a douche based on a single unattributed report from a known "easily confused by the facts" reporter.

See the difference?

This isn't the first time people chose to believe one of Quick's stories and not others. This one was simply an example.

One report contradicts common sense, one doesn't. Quick is probably not wrong in every single thing he reports, he's just a questionable source. When he reports something that makes no sense at all, the "Quick is wrong" probability goes up. That's all.

On every report he offers, each person can decide how likely they think it is, considering both Quick's reputation and the objective likelihood of the story itself. One doesn't have to either condemn Quick on every report or believe him on every report in order to be internally consistent.

That's fine. I just find the constant Quick bashing to be going a little too far, especially after the contract article. (And oh yes, it's a BASHING)

So is the Pritchard bashing. The internets are going crazy.

Are you the defender of Quickzano?

Are you the defender of Quickzano?

Are you the guy that acts clever but never adds anything to the discussion?

I've taken my fair share of shots are both writers, just in this scenario, I think it's a bit ridiculous.
