Multiple league sources have told CSNNW.com they don't think either of the three candidates will get the job and they say Trail Blazers' acting general manager, Chad Buchanan, “has become an option again.”

Trail Blazers' president, Larry Miller, told CSNNW.com, Buchanan wouldn't necessarily have to interview for the general manager position if they decided to hand the job to him because they feel they have a grasp of what Buchanan is capable of.

Trail Blazers interim head coach, Kaleb Canales, has come on strong as the favorite to secure their head coaching vacancy, according to a source.

Fucking rad

I'd feel somewhat more confident if they would say who was responsible for the Nolan Smith pick.

Did Chad want Faried but "higher ups" (fucking Burt) pushed for Nolan "should have been a mid-2nd rounder" Smith?

In other news, the Trail Blazers have announced that they're going to stop giving a shit for the next 5 years.

Totally fine with canales.

I'd enjoy this just from the standpoint of getting to see the rants and tantrums around here. Should be entertaining if true.

Do you think this shows the direction the team is now planning on going with the draft. If they are deciding to go with Coach Kaleb, does this mean they are using the draft picks on young players and starting over?

However, those that know Allen, have said he prefers that his general managers be/remain in good physical shape and Bower doesn't fit that criteria.

 Oh Em Gee, really?!

If anything it just makes it easier for me to not feel as emotionally engaged with the team. It doesn't make me angry, it just fails to get me the least bit excited ... but whatever, we'll see what happens.

It's the all important physical fitness part of the job interview that really weeds 'em out. 'cause god knows how important it is for a talent evaluator/bean counter/deal maker to be fit.

Cheer up Chachi! I know I'm biased because Kaleb is my boy....... but I would much rather have him as our next coach then somebody like Stan VanGundy!

I don't see how Caleb is anywhere close to the candidate that Mike Malone is.

I'd love to see mediocre man's look of surprise when he learns of this. I hope he takes his meds.

Oh snap! Does this apply to ALL employees?

Hopefully he has Nik on ignore and he won't see this thread!

I've come to the unavoidable conclusion that Paul Allen is bat shit crazy.

I'm pretty sure the rest of the league has figured it out too.

The silver lining:

This hopefully means they've come to their senses and realized that trading these picks for "immediate help" is not the best rout to take.

Are you kidding me?!?

Using the picks is not the best route to take. Look at the history

This is exactly how we have to look at it!

I don't mind Canales, thought he did a decent job last year but was kind of hoping to get a big name coach.

You'd better start wearing stripes, just in case, Hefe. I've heard they're slimming (verticle, NOT horizontal).

PA continues to make the worst and weakest moves possible, despite all his public claims of wanting to win.

It should be clear to all fans by now that he's not only a liar, he's a very bad liar.

They could still end up selecting out of the three finalist just to bring some closure, but the word is “they're perplexed during this decision-making process.”
They are "perplexed", huh? THAT MAKES ALL OF US!

Become an option equals frontrunner?
