God I hope there aren't any idiots who decide to boo the poor guy. There are all kinds of idiots in this world though, so you never know.

We should sign him if he's ready to play next season.

I wouldn't boo him if I was there. I'm upset that things didn't turn out as we all hoped, but meh....whats done is done.

I wonder why he's in Portland though?

I would try to recruit him back in a heartbeat. This time around the expectations would be very low. Plus I'd rather he fail again with us than succeed, even a little bit, elsewhere. And finally: He owes me. :)

Although I doubt he would want to come back, maybe Olshey brings a new "vibe" and sense to things, and could be enough of a difference that he'd consider re-signing.

Does anyone know if the team is allowed to re-sign him/talk to him? I don't remember how his contract ended. Did it end, and he's a UFA?

If he was willing to sign a 1 year deal, with a team option for a 2nd, I'd do it. I don't think he would, nor do I think the team would, but cheap enough it could end up being worth the effort.

and I heard that there is a little known clause in the amnesty ruling that would permit us to now resign Roy since he's played under contract for another team....:MARIS61:

I'm curious as to why he's back. If he did want to sign with us, I'd bring him back in a heartbeat. Part of me thinks he still owes us.

Here to see Conley, fwiw.

Maybe Paul Allen, Greg Oden and Neil Olshey are texting each other?

agreed, or at least some humility about accepting of blame.

it still sounds like he blames the organization for far more of the issue than he accepts the blame. I think that would go a LONG way to healing things. Look at Bill Walton, he admitted (35+ years later) that he was as much to blame, if not more, for how he acted than the amount of personal blame he admitted to back when it happened.

yeah, but why did he pick Portland? Memphis doesn't play in Indiana, or Ohio, or any other city closer to where he lives now?

I think he is sitting in the.Nike basketball seats and had some nice.arm candy. Either might be the reason or to talk with Olshey.

I do not think he owes us, but I would like to see a better ending to his story with us.

I don't want him back. I don't think he can stay healthy and I don't want to deal with the will he/won't he bullshit again. Let the wound close. The Oden saga is over and we don't need to start writing new chapters.

If he gave in and returned, how much should we pay him? 8 million? 9 million? While he has superstar talent, and I believe in paying for potential as we did Batum and Aldridge, is anyone just a little queasy like me about paying double that due to potential?

The other side of the argument is that to be consistent and fair, if we overpaid Batum and Aldridge, then we should do the same for Oden, who has Shaqian potential and should be paid in Shaqians. Thoughts?

At least he's still popular.

I only wish we could have seen three to five years with Oden, Roy and LMA play at their potential - still sick about the past...

Would I like to see Oden in a Blazer uni? I'd be lying if I said no. Would I like to have Roy return - maybe in a coaching capacity? I'd love it.

1 year deal, 2.5 million; second year team option for 8 or 9 million if healthy.

Let him go to Indiana or Cleveland or anyplace other then Portland for his return to the NBA. I'd love him back but its the wrong place for him to return because the expectations of the former #1 pick would be back upon him and any injury would send the fans into a Shark feeding type frenzy asking for his blood.

If Oden dominates elsewhere, the wound opens wide open and the saga wouldn't be over.

yup. I've no hope of him resigning with PDX but I do wish him the best including coming back and dominating. That some seem to be hanging onto their precious bitterness is expected... whatever
