BREAKING: Chris Matthews announces his resignation live on MSNBC after allegations he made sleazy remarks
  • Chris Matthews revealed he is retiring on Monday night's episode of Hardball
  • The 74-year-old said that he and MSNBC had mutually agreed to part ways
  • The decision came days after freelance journalist Laura Bassett accused him of being 'gross and inappropriate' with her before she appeared on his show
  • Prior to that accusation, Matthews had faced criticism for a series of on-air flubs about Bernie Sanders and African American lawmakers

MSDNC suddenly gains a shred of credibility, until they replace him with Rachel's wife's spiritual advisor.

Corporate media still won't drain it's swamp: CNN, MSNBC and Fox, even after Chris Matthews resignation. So, I don't really see it as a win.

He has been making sleazy remarks about women for years.

Finally. All through the Clinton presidency, Chris Matthews and Bill Maher ridiculed Clinton every weeknight, while posing as Democrats. In the same time slot, Ted Koppel tore down Carter every night during Carter's presidency. At least Koppel didn't pretend to be a Democrat, just neutral, which he wasn't.

Chris Matthews is smart, savvy, funny, opinionated, knowledgable, and loves American government. Perfect? No way, but none of you are either.

I will 100% miss him. His book Hardball, which I read back in the 80s, is a political must read.
