Ah okay I feel you man. Apples been using that for about 10 years now. I thought this was something new.

Actually, no, they haven't. Icloud is absolute shit compared to Google's cloud offering.

My home computer broke a few months back, and I kept meaning to get a new one, but no rush with my iPad. Time went on, and now I'm just going to skip it, no need for a home computer for what I use it for. My iPad is all I need at home. If I have something that requires lots of typing I can do it at work, or just borrow a computer from work for the week. But my ipad mixed with apple tv and nice TV is all I need. All I want. Fuck all that extra bullshit, spending tons on something I will never adequately use.

I'm sure other tablets are similar to the iPad, I'm just used to it and apple just works well for me, but I just think regardless of apple, microsoft or other, big expensive home computers are a thing of the past.

You think so? I disagree

Icloud is horrible. Sure, for contact syncing, its fine (actually its a bit harder to work with and duplicates a lot).but for file drag and drop? Photos? Music? You still have to physically download everything. I use macs at home and work, I use Evernote and Dropbox for note and file syncing. I use google sync for contacts, just because it works a lot better.

11 inch macbook air

It's roughly the size of an iPad, but has a real keyboard and operating system.

Just get a $50 bluetooth keyboard. I have one and is magnificent.

You have to physically download? Dude when your shit is on the cloud; you are limited to the speed of the connection. I would never want that!

The key is to access inboard processing and memory. If you link to a computer via web; your shit is slow as shit.

Watch Apple TV much? that's all streaming, no local storage.

Its faster and easier than you think. You don't need processing power and a ton of memory unless you're doing a lot of graphic intensive work. Oh yeah, I use Amazon Cloud player versus Itunes because its superior for streaming music across multiple devices as well.

Look at Itunes Video, I can't even stream that shit on my ipad...how fucking lame is that? I can on my apple TV but not if I'm at a hotel, I have to download whatever I want then play it.

Amazon Video, i have no problem at all streaming on wifi.

Yeah, but I'm physically tied down. Say I take my ipad on the road, I can't watch ANY of the apple content streaming, I have to download it and then watch it.

I just watched streaming directv on my phone without a glitch. Don't know what you are talking about. I watch itune videos all the time on my 4g without a glitch either

You can only stream Direct TV when you're at home.

You stream Itunes video content? I can't do this. Where, so if you're in a hotel you can play streaming content?

Nope I just watched adventure time on my iPhone at dinner last night

On itunes? how? I'll have to check that out.

You're probably streaming it via home sharing. If you shut your compuer off, you won't be able to "stream". That is not streaming, its sharing content on a home network.

Also, you cannot go to any computer in the world and stream your content. I can with amazon content. I can stream content from a browser.

I do buy Apple content, but i'm mainly limited to watch it at home or have to download to a device to watch.

Directv isn't connected to my home computer. I'm at my sons baseball practice, on 4g and streaming my directv "finding nemo" on stars.

weird. That's Direct TV stuff, not Apple though.

what about itunes content?

My main point was that Apple cloud services are pretty remedial.

It even warns me that I am using cellar minutes. If I was on another wifi; I would be streaming easily. Also, Netflix works fine too.

For me; I use all content just fine and having a 60 gig hard drive is fine to download. There is a feature that allows me to delete after watching the video. I think it works just fine
