Politics Civil War part 2! Which side will you fight for?

Of course you need a special counsel if he investigates the president, otherwise it will be like calling a murderer to offer expert advice in the trial if something made sense to do during a murder.

As a citizen you should be happy this is happening - it shows that we can be certain our votes are really what counts - not some foreign country. Honestly - to be against this would be, quite frankly, un-American. If we do not do that - what next, should we stop looking at spies and traitors?

We have a very unique situation here - I do not believe we ever had a situation where there were so many signs of foreign meddling in an American general election - and that's why we have such a different investigation.

It all comes down to one thing, if the administration is in the clear, it should encourage this investigation, not hinder it - because they will be the biggest beneficiary of it.

If you think, Congress thinks the President committed a High Crime then, the House of representative is the only lawful place to proceed. If they screw it up, the people can kick them out. If they prevail then the Senate can remove the President, and then answer to the people. As it should be.

Hell they won't do that!! Stick their necks out like that. You guys are enabling the weak to hide behind the special counsel.

I will say it again. Clown. Showman. Reality TV star.

http://www.gq.com/story/trump-17-day-vacation

"Don't take vacations. What's the point? If you're not enjoying your work, you're in the wrong job," said Donald Trump knowingly in 2004. "Barack Obama played golf yesterday. Now he heads to a 10 day vacation on Martha's Vineyard. Nice work ethic," observed Donald Trump sarcastically in 2010. "President Obama is about to embark on a 17-day vacation in his 'native' Hawaii," exclaimed Donald Trump incredulously in 2013. "I would not be a president who took vacations," promised Donald Trump confidently in 2015. "I'm going to vacation for the next 17 days at a New Jersey golf resort with my name on it," whispered Donald Trump, probably, in 2017.

Yes, the president will reportedly leave the White House on Friday to begin a 17-day stay at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, which historians believe will be the longest period that anyone who does not reside full-time in Somerset County will voluntarily travel to and stay in Somerset County. (Imagine being told that you can take an all-expenses-paid vacation anywhere in the country and deciding on... New Jersey.) This is, of course, not the first time that Trump has enjoyed time away from the White House on taxpayers' dime—the price tag of his weekend jaunts this year alone are estimated to outpace President Obama's entire eight-year travel budget—but it will be the lengthiest trip he's taken yet."

You got it. The house does this work, they are answerable to the people. Not some untouchable, sheltered to do what ever the fuck he wishes.

Again, what are you so worried about? You must think Trump is a criminal.

Mueller does answer to someone, namely Rod Rosenstein, deputy AG. And Mueller is not a judge and executioner, he's an investigator.

Trump should fire Rosenstein. Might as well get it on. It is a fucking joke as is.

So, I am not certain what you are opposed to - that an investigation is taking place, or who is doing it?

The investigation was started by the FBI, managed by the DOJ, because the AG was a part of the campaign that is investigated he recused himself from the investigation (which was the right thing to do) - so a special counsel leads the investigation. It is pretty clear that the house and senate already believe there was meddling (thus the sanctions against Russia), the investigation is to find out if the campaign colluded with a foreign country or not. The administration has been less forth-coming than most - no tax returns before the election for example - so the investigation is taking longer.

So, what exactly is it that you are opposed to -

1. Making sure our democracy is protected?
2. That the AG which was part of the campaign that is being investigated recused himself and thus a special counsel was appointed?
3. That the FBI and the DOJ lead the investigation (that's their role, after all).

I really am not certain what it is that you oppose to.

I agree, the sooner Trump fires Rosenstein, the sooner we can impeach him for obstruction of justice. Bring it on!

This whole thread is amusing me but this is the part that really cracks me up. If he can fire Rosenstein, he can fire him. Is there a union Rosenstein is in that precludes this?

If he can fire him, let's say Rosenstein carjacks a group of nuns and catches their car on fire and drives it into a playground full of children. Is Rosenstein safe from being fired now because it would be obstruction of justice?

The Congress can also appoint a special prosecutor. It's not something new--one was appointed to investigate Ronald Reagan, one was appointed to investigate Bill Clinton. Trump's not getting some brand new treatment, some dirty trick.

I believe that the point is that the house and senate, despite being from the same party as the president - are already willing to work against his wishes (see Sanctions, Russia). The administration already fired the head of the FBI - the one doing the investigation - another firing of the branches of government that handle the investigation - and the house/senate will be more likely to take action.

No, like any legal case, extenuating circumstances and context matter. It would be up to the House to judge whether he fired Rosenstein to obstruct an investigation or not. If he had just robbed nuns of a car that he used to murder children, the House would likely not choose to impeach for the firing.

There's something you might want to google sometime: "Saturday Night Massacre". It's like the Bowling Green Massacre, in that nobody died in either one.

Weak will tolerate a bully...only people hiding things are using fakenews as a license to lie ...as many have said...if there's no ghost in the closet...they will come out of this winners...big time...but due diligence is what we elect legislators for ...special counsel is absolutely the proper way to handle a foreign threat to our political system....that's the intention of the investigation....to find out how the Russians manipulated or tried to manipulate our system..Trump claiming complete denial is very suspicious...an honest president would clear this up with proof and transparency...not take a two week vacation and surround himself with lawyers....then tweet bs randomly to make sure we see how childish he is

Marzy just sent me a 2 for 1 coupon to join the Bandon Militia.

Most of these bellicose gang never took that oath or even knows what it means. Those that did and run they jaw overtime, have indeed forsaken it.
Perhaps some of us who took that oath see Trump's efforts and actions as a threat to what we were taught are the best interests of America. That would make him an enemy of the state in my book.......

The NRA joins the fight, but bizarrely they prefer fisting people to using guns:

It's going to be hard to televise the revolution, if it involves a lot of fisting.

Do simple rural folk have more experience fisting than cosmopolitan-biased urbanites?

Have you ever seen the process of artificial insemination of a cow or horse? Lots of fisting out on the farm.

Damn. We city folk had better get to work. I, barfo j. barfo, am calling for a complete and total shutdown of all non-fisting related activities until we can figure out what the hell is going on with our fisting strategy.
