thats not a fair assessment. First, CJ hardly played the first year and a half, and second, lob passes to Plumlee? He hasnt had the bigs he has now. Should he continue to develop his game? yes, but sometimes that development can be hindered by other players abilities... or lack of.
I also think Stotts was running Aminu into the pick to put jokik on Dame. Mismatch for Dame.
Nurk only gets 2 shots in the 4th quarter tonight against Denver.
He went 2-2 in 8 minutes.
Nurk went 9-15 in the game.
One of these 3 needed to step up.
Get together and say.
Nurk is going, find the hot hand.
Accountability.
I only included your quote because that is what @TBpup was responding to. Sorry I wasn't clear. I meant that I didn't think T's assessment was fair based o your post.Pretty sure that's what I was hinting at. CJ hasn't had the bigs to throw lobs to.
And the one big were he could throw that pocket pass out of the P&P.. How much run did he exactly get with him?
If he can't develop that pass going forward.. Then well Portland needs to find a player who can.
For whatever reason Turner is not that player...
I was never, nor am I now a Batum fan. But he was able to make P&R work with Rolo. Why can't Turner make it work with Nurk?
Soon as a couple times happened when Jokic was just leaving Aminu unguarded, playing center field. An adjustment needed to be made.
Pull Aminu for Nards, change whos setting the P&R and sit Aminu in the corner.
Something. to get your best player some space.
Remember how well Nurk passed out of the post last season? Before he was taught the Tater Totts brand of basketball that results in turnovers?
I know ... gras is not always green on the other side, but when I see our team, I can tell ... our coaching doesn't do this team good.
I have been on the fire Stotts bandwagon for some time.
We have too much talent to be this mediocre ...
Yea 3 seed my behind. I will be shocked if we get out of the first round.
We lost to Dallas and Memphis ... let that sink in.
We have guys shooting the team out of games in 2 quarters ...
Stotts has not been able to get anything meaningful out of Turner. And we are paying him tons of money.
I don't think this team has "too much talent" to be sitting on 48 wins. I think they have more wins than the talent indicates. That's where this forum splits in two.
Every team loses to crap teams. Memphis and Dallas have wins over a bunch of teams that are better than them.
Tuner playing like garbage most of the time isn't Stotts' fault. How about we hold the actual player who makes $17M a year accountable for his play?
I used to love CJ McCollum when he was coming up. He would always be the smartest guy on the court, making the smartest decisions ...
Now he looks like the dumbest guy on the court every time. I don't know if he has been shooting 30% in the last 10 games.
Tonight: 5-18 = 27%. Against Houston
E.T. 38 minutes, 4 points ... 2-9 = 22%, ZERO free throws. but that is expected. He is not getting paid enough to score 10 points.
Last five games CJ is shooting .344% from the field and .207 from three.
That isn't fair either though. You think he is going to say to NO, "naah, I'm not worth that. I cant play at that level. Ill take 10 mill a year though."
I'm still a semi supporter of NO, but that's on him. Not Turner.
I’m not saying people should turn down money. I’m saying players are responsible for their performance.
But you based that performance off his salary and that isnt fair.
Not fair? What is this CYO? Yes. Yes, if you make $17m the expectations are higher than if you make $2m. That’s how the world works.
No, that wasn't what I was getting at. My point was, rather, that Nurk (and others) played better off of instincts than in Tater's system that results in 3-pointers from subpar shooters. It's like he saw how beautiful those Nurk passes to Harkless cuts were last season and said "Nah, an Evan Turner 3-point attempt is always a better option!" Totts puts no emphasis or value on movement in the direction of the basket.Stotts is teaching him to not pass out of the post now?
Whats wierd is it was just a few weeks ago he was considered mister consistent
Hmm what ? I would disagree
Maybe a fewcweeks isnt long enough. A month or two? He was in the conversation for 50/40/90 i thought?
Pre-injury Wes instead of CJ of last couple weeks, sure, but overall, CJ is the better player and gives us that second 20 ppg scorer that we needed once Aldridge left. Pre-injury Wes couldn't do that. Post-injury Wes might be fun to have coming off our bench but we already have a younger version in Baldwin so maybe not.Imagine this team with pre-injury Wes instead of CJ and tell me honestly we wouldn't be better
Imagine this team with pre-injury Wes instead of CJ and tell me honestly we wouldn't be better
Wes pre-injury was like 15-16 ppg player. We wouldn't be better.
Sure. But how are we going to replace CJ with a pre-injury Wes clone?Imagine this team with pre-injury Wes instead of CJ and tell me honestly we wouldn't be better

Oh sorry for some reason I thought everything wasn't about point average.......
