This is why I don't make the trade for Grant now, even if I like Grant (which I don't particularly... at least at his cost). Play out free agency (or at least tamper away until the eve of free agency so you know where you are at) and then the team and Dame can make a decision in conjunction knowing what options are on the table. Grant will still be available around the draft or this summer if that's the direction you want. If you think you can legitimately retool and make a run (signing a big name in free agency, trading someone into cap space), go for it with Dame's buy in. If you are hearing that free agents are not interested, etc., the team and Dame can amicably part ways this summer. In the latter scenario, which I think might be a legitimate option, I don't want Grant (or someone of his ilk) on the books, and I don't want to lose a single first round pick.

I hope Cronin is patient here, and unless it's an absolute slam dunk, wait until at least the draft to push the chips all in on rebuilding around Dame. There is NO reason to do it in the next 48 hours.
I agree unless someone good is available we like for cheap - perhaps a team looking to get out of the tax as we now have a 20 mil TPE, a great pick and some young guys

Interesting Blazers have not yet acknowledged the CJ trade on their instagram. They did promptly with Norm and Roco

I think perhaps this shows us something…

MAYBE…

The fact we actually moved CJ after LITERALLY BEING LIED TO. It was what, a month ago they said that they weren’t going to break up the backcourt?

Something I myself and some others have thought for a while… Which is that CJ’s contract was not very desired. Perhaps Olshey had tried to move CJ and found no interest around the league. Basically getting stonewalled on every offer.

This might not look great on the surface… But in the long run it might be good.

It’s hard not to think of Ellis/Curry in GS when thinking about Dame/CJ.

Hopefully we can get some better pieces around Dame. Hopefully Dame understands and we have a solid plan to do so. If that is the case, then let’s see where we are next season before freaking out.
Be careful. I used the Ellis comparison a few weeks ago and some posters were shitting their pants about it. I agree with you 100% though.

Your first thought on this trade would be about what others think in contrast to what you think. Lmao.

1) You were wrong on my first thought. Nice try!
2) You commenting about me and not about the question says it all. It's ok to take an L on your CJ is an all-star talent and his contract isn't bad take. I've taken plenty of L's on takes.

Ready to pay up on our wager yet?

CJ is a good guy, I wish him the best.
He should of been traded years ago.
The value we got back wasn't great, just makes that clippers trade look worse and worse.
This franchise is in horrible hands at the moment. Owner needs to sell as soon as possible and we need an actual gm ASAP. Incompetents leadership will never yield positive results and our ownership and GM seems amongst worst in the league at the moment.

Except his contract isn't bad considering the Pelicans actually gave up value for it. Also, there's no need for you to try to one-up yourself all the time.

You think we got near all-star value for CJ?

I appreciate your opinion of what I do or don't need to try and do with myself. I will take your advice under serious consideration as soon as I get that mouse pad.

It's now been roughly 8 hours and change since this trade hit and unless i am mistaken neither the Blazers OR New Orleans have confirmed the deal -- I know i am harping on this but like someone mentioned when the blazers did the 1st deal a couple days ago the they had it announced within a few hours but it's silent as can be.

This has to me more is going on and this could turn into a 3 heck at this point would not surprise me if this turned into a 4 team trade the longer this silence keeps going.

However with the Blazers playing tonight don't they have to announce something like CJ is being held out pending a trade or something ??

Dame is demanding a record-breaking contract, 5x as much as Michael Jordan made, or he will walk. And you act like he’s playing for free.

Players who care about winning take pay cuts. Dame won’t let go of 1% of his astronomical salary.

if he cares so much about winning he sure doesn’t act like it. He hasn’t won shit.

You do realize the only time that has been uttered was right after olshey was fired and it came from woj, his mouthpiece.

According to the NBA, Portland Trailblazer CJ McCollum will be in the 3 point contest. So looks like ain't nothing official yet FAMS!

Lmfao we traded CJ and Nance for ONE pick and Josh Hart? Cronin is fucking garbage. Holy shit lmfao! We should have absolutely done CJ plus 3 first and 3 swaps for Simmons during the summer. What a fucking fleecing by New Orleans. Good news our cap is wide open to absorb a second tier star if we are crazy lucky and completely the opposite of Portland FA signing history. Our cupboard is now bare. I guess we kept Nas and Ant so thats something I guess?!

Ok now Im hoping that this deal falls through at last minute or is HEAVILY modified in our favor. Holy shit!
