Simons hasn't been that at all......only dunks he gets are fast breaks and we're not a big fast break team....he's been super soft going to the hoop and super slow with his passes.....so the comparison is he is a good 3 pt shooter like Crabbe was.....only Crabbe was a better defensive player but Simons is not impressing me as the season moves on.....I'd trade him tomorrow

Crabbe had nowhere close to the athleticism. simons is a dunk champ. He is a dunker regardless if you havent seen it on the court.

impressing is different than the comparison proposed.
simons is nothing like Crabbe other than they both had a nice 3pt shot.
Thier defense was different, their dribbling was different, etc.

Simons has poor court vision IMO. He isn't getting the ball to anyone. And ,in many cases, he dribbles from a good shot to a contested one. He's thinking too much. He's developing, and shows signs of becoming a talent, but right now he's uber inconsistent. But he's strictly a 2 guard. I don't see PG at all in him.
I’m still torn on him as pg, always going to be a better scorer than passer outing him and Powell Ben would be fun to watch add in nance and little. That would be fun team to watch

I didn't think so but the longer he plays...the more he looks like a glorified 3 pt shooter...which was Alan Crabbe...score enough to get a big payday

Cept that ALL Crabbe could do was shoot 3s. Simons rebounds decently, passes decently and can create shots for himself.

Crabbe? Not so much any of that.

ya their games are nothing alike. i dont get the comp.
this got way out of hand....I simply said that both were 3pt shooters who specialized in being 3 pt shooters....then someone disagrees......no big whoop.....Simons started hot and has disappointed the hell out of me....just like Alan Crabbe did.....if you don't try and clone them they had similar impacts on the roster and Neil paid Crabbe ......now will Joe pay Ant the same way? I for one am not sold on the fact that Ant is all he's cracked up to be.....if you think he is I hope you're right but the comparison I made was that both tend to be one dimensional players and neither was taking over a game for a win anytime soon. If Ant is better he'll be getting a monster contract this summer.....I think that might just be a mistake but I want to trade him now...

The only comparison I see is that both are late draft players that in theory became acceptable role players. Their game is very different and I still believe Simons can become more than just a role player, he might become a reasonable starter in this league if he continues to work hard.

even their stats are not that similar if we want purely a numbers eval.

Crabbe was strictly a catch and shoot wing, while Simons is a guard who gets quite a few buckets off the dribble. Crabbe defended a bit, Simons is a turnstile. Simons is also a much better passer.

I think this thread is onto something. Powell can not be traded so the logical thing to do is to trade CJ and Ant before the deadline for the best value possible. I think CJ has value with a handful of teams around the league. I think Ant has value all over the league and you could trade him for two min salary players and draft picks or trade him with RoCo or Nurk for an upgrade.

Nas is the one developing talent i keep, unless involved in a deal to bring a big talent back. He, not Ant, has the most upside cause he plays both ends. And finishes like a man possessed. Ant doesn't have those attributes so far. Ant, the slam dunk champ, continues to finesse his way to the hoop, resulting in mixed results. Plus he's mainly a shooter, showing limited facilitating ability. I like Ant, but i don't see the eye of the tiger in him. I do in Nassir Little. So if other teams are high on him, he may lead to helping get , the quality veteran player we need.

Stay young. I don't think Dame is going to turn it around this season. We should tank and get a high pick while developing Ant and Nassir and whoever we get back in trades from CJ, Nurk, Roco and others. Dame should get surgery soon and call it a season if we don't see anything change soon.
