Or elite passing, or elite defense, or rebounding. As long as he can still get the ball in the basket thats basically what he’s being paid for lol.His game isn't really based on elite athleticism, so I'm not too worried.

I had to google the article because my phone wouldnt take the link.Did anyone actually read the article? Seems like it was bothering him last year, which could explain the regression. From everything I’ve read he’s in the best shape he’s ever been in right now and feeling good. If we can get him back to where he was two years ago, that’s a pretty significant upgrade.
Depends on what one wants to define as athleticism. CJ ran more miles last season than ANY other NBA player in the league. He ran over 200 miles during the season. Does he rely on dunking over people from the FT line? No. But that's not all that defines athleticism. Sharp cuts around screens, and off of screens might not be "athletic", but could have just as big of an impact on a player's longevity, if they do happen to have some sort of an issue. His game isn't really based on elite athleticism, so I'm not too worried.
He does definitely need quickness, because he scores a lot in one on one from dribble moves.Depends on what one wants to define as athleticism. Ya but it's the Blazers and we're dealing with knees.I bet most ballers get runners knee at some point and PRP injections are pretty standard anymore.
His game is totally based on athleticism. All those herky jerky moves to get off shots and get to the hoop take a lot of athleticism. After all, why do you think his knee ended up getting hurt in the first place?
When I mention athleticism, I'm talking the obvious stuff like high flying dunks, put backs, rebounding in traffic. CJ's game can adjust to be more like JJ Reddick as he ages since he's got a great jumper with range. DRose still has solid handles but his game was based on elevation and finishing at the rim so he fell off without that nice jumper.
I believe you and I have had a discussion on what is athleticism before!Herky jerky movements don't equal athleticism....
WTH are y'all talking about?
Athleticism = moving fast, jumping high.
. I understand your point of view and I mostly agree. CJ certainly doesnt strike me as the NBA’s greatest athlete, lol. He does need quickness and while I think thats a part of athleteticism, Id consider it a smallish part.I believe you and I have had a discussion on what is athleticism before!. I have seen a video or two.CJ is not quick IMO.
Does he blow by the defense? No. He doesn't.
He gets the defense off balance with hesitation dribbles and then creates space.
He's not quick.
Hell... I'm probably quicker than CJ. No lie. There's video to prove it.
I have seen a video or two.
Im not sure what I think about the statement CJ isnt quick. He’s doesnt accelerate quickly, or run particularly fast. I guess as I think about it, Id say he’s basically just really, really good at knowing how to create space, whether its quickness or not I dont know... I’ll have to think about it.
Exactly. JJ Redick makes herky jerky movements around screens all the time....
He's far from athletic.
JJ Redick is one of the best off ball players in the league, and it’s mostly dependent on athleticism. Same with CJ. You make it sound like that “jerky”stuff isn’t athleticism. If it wasn’t why doesn’t everyone do it?
Speed, stopping on a dime, staying balanced, it’s all athleticism. These guys make it look easy, but it’s not.
It's not athleticism.
Reggie Miller did that the best. Rip Hamilton was 2nd best.
Neither of those dudes would ever be called athletic.
Knowing how to manipulate screens doesn't make you quick or athletic.
At BEST it makes you "crafty".
Guard in NBA isn’t athletic. Lol ok.

Don't compare them to regular people bro. You know WTF I'm talking about.
I mean by NBA standards.
Now stop making me type things you already know. It's irritating.
SG’s are predominately scorers and I understand that, but when they disrupt the offense by being black holes you better be really, really good. Very few SG’s are that good. CJ definitely is a score first and thats good, I dont expect elite passing but he should probably stop over dribbling into contested / bad shots and pass more often.I really don’t think it’s important a shooting guard looks to pass
I get what you’re saying, and by NBA standards, no CJ isnt an elite NBA athlete, I’d say he’s kind of average maybe slightly below. It's not athleticism.
