I didn't know this, but in their final two years of college, Dame maxed out at 4 asst/game and CJ averaged 6+ asst/game. Hopefully that all comes back to him.

Part of his approach is highly analytical. McCollum studies his shot charts and has his own Synergy Sports account, a video based analytical scouting service. He watches hours of video of his own game as well as other players around the league.

"Watching different guys in the league who are good at finishing in the lane like (Mike) Conley and Chris Paul and Steph (Curry)," McCollum said of what he studies on film. "Just seeing guys pick and roll usage rates, how you manipulate ball screens. I think it's helpful."

And when Harkless and Aminu are moving without the ball and getting hit on the way to the hoop, they get the lay up and one. The team is gonna come from many angles and continually throw the D off. The X Factor? Meyers. If he can hit 2-3 threes a game, The D has to be honest and will open up the paint for CJ and Dame. I think Meyers play this season is as big a hinge as any for the success of this team. He is truly unique and when he gets it going on all cylinders this year?... Lookout West 8th seed NO one wants to face!!!

Meyers has a very benficial gravity effect to our offense. But teams are leaving him less and less open. So far he can't get a shot unless it's wide open from a teammate collapsing the defense. Meyers has basically been a solid Matt Bonner for us. That's a good role player but you want more out of a starter, so it'll be interesting to see if he can add anything else to his game.

The difference seems to me to be that Bonner never had quite the "gravity" effect, and that Meyers doesn't take contested shots and is a competent-at-worst passer. I'd happily take him taking the big defender out of the play and going 4-on-4 with the ball in Dame/CJ's hands.

Bonner lead the NBA in 3 point shooting at 45% and has a career average over 41%. Bonner also shoots more threes per minute than Meyers, so I disagree. While Meyers has been an excellent shooter he's not quite as good as Matt Bonner.

Bonner was an excellent shooter. And Bonner did shoot a lot. But my eye/memory recollection is that he was wide-effing open many of the times because a defense would focus on the others (like Duncan, Manu and Parker), rather than the defense's gravity by sticking with him on the 3pt line.

Well I disagree that Bonner doesn't have all the positive gravity effect as Meyers. Opponents either left him open and got burned by his threes or guarded him (gravity) and got beat by the Spurs stars. Meyers shoots his threes when he's wide-effing open as well. The way opponents were defending the Spurs was due to the makeup of their team and all teams will have their own uniqueness. I'd argue Bonner is a slightly superior 3 point shooter but the difference is splitting hairs.
