I showed up at a protest at 47th and burnside police station, because there was a BLM protest arranged, the whole line of burnside in front of the station was riot geared police. Armored up, shields, batons. And it's families with kids showing up to show support to BLM.

They've learned from previous confrontations.
I remember the early 70s when kids were protesting the Vietnam war in the park blocks near PSU. The cops came through suddenly swinging their batons against defenseless kids in their tents and sitting on camp chairs wherever, not raising their arms to protect themselves because of the surprise attack. They were badly bloodied by the police violence. There were some hard objects thrown at police by what I was told were out of state agitators mixed in with the young protestors apparently trying to incite violence. Do you think people don't learn from that?
 
Ha! I called it. Someone on reddit posted that the Kenosha kid was possessing a firearm illegally and I replied that I would bet money that the shooter from last night didn’t have a CHL and was also possessing a gun illegally. Sure enough in that article they confirmed he doesn’t have a CHL. It’s pretty interesting really how similar the two shootings are, aside from the fact that one killed multiple people.
 
Ted Wheeler is an abject failure as Mayor of Portland, OR. Since he continues to allow Portland to become more and more lawless, he's only inviting more and more extreme factions to the city. I mean, if there are no seeming consequences, then WHY NOT COME AND CARRY ON THEIR DESTRUCTIVE WAYS?!!

Look it's proven that Trump makes it much worse. Now he's got lawsuits going against him for his stupid actions detaining people under force without reason and by not declaring what's going on in the arrests nor by who is doing the detaining so a proper lawsuit can be filed. The number of protestors has also swelled because of Trump's actions by an order of magnitude (approximately X10).
Wheeler may be trying to defuse a tense situation by allowing minor transgressions. This might actually be dampening the situation somewhat. I'd like to see a proper analysis of the past 60 days by professionals in the field like psychologists and criminologists.

God I swear the way the news is portraying Portland, you'd think the whole city is on fire. It's a few blocks every night. 99% of the city is completely normal. The hyperbole would be hilarious if it wasn't scary.

With that said, maybe it will keep some people from moving here :lol:

My point was that maybe you shouldn’t believe everything you read.....especially from outlets that have clear biases and agendas. Or are you too shallow and entrenched in your own personal ideology?

My whole family lives in the Portland area and I have to listen to them every. single. day. This, along with all that I read.

That's not called "cutting someone loose". Where you getting your information has nothing to do with his opinion about Wheeler (which was not expressed) or why you said it.

Calling Wheeler an abject failure as Portland Mayor, based on all the reports I'm getting back from my family who lives there...has NOTHING to to with Trump. Oh, other than the fact that Wheeler wants to dump all the blame on him. Trump doesn't run Portland, OR!
