But it's also one of those "signs of the times" things. If weed was legal back in Uncle Cliffy's days, he'd likely have never had any sort of "head case" label.

Clearly, Cliffy liked his weed. Beyond that, he was pretty laid back (haha - the weed!).

A passionate cannabis advocate, Robinson will be a featured speaker at the 2016 Cannabis Collaborative Conference, held next month (Feb. 3 and 4) at the Portland Expo Center. He hopes to spread the message about the healing benefits provided by marijuana as an alternative to more addictive prescription drugs.

"Cannabis is definitely a more positive alternative to pharmaceuticals at the end of the day," says Robinson. "Those are synthetics. I'm talking about something that's natural that can bring the outcomes you're looking for, be it for muscle tension or relaxation or preparedness. There are a whole lot of different things that are beneficial."

It's hilarious to watch law-and-order types flounder now, as the law goes against them. Worshipers of law don't know which way to turn.

In his playing days, Cliff Robinson was known as Uncle Cliffy.

Now as he begins a new business venture, the former UConn star also has a new nickname: Uncle Spliffy.

That's the name he has registered for his upcoming foray into the marijuana business; the registered domain name currently features a marijuana leaf and a promise that the rest of the site is "Coming Soon." Robinson, along with a group of investors, will open a grow operation in Portland, Oregon, according to a story in the Portland Business Journal, with plans to have a product by the end of the year.

I ran into Antonio Harvey at Clackamas County Planning today and talked with him a bit. Really nice guy. He said he enjoyed his time with the Blazers, but this was the first year that he hasn't had to spend a bunch of time on the road away from his family since he was about 18 years old. He was enjoying that too. He appeared to be working on permitting for a marijuana farming operation...so that fits in with this discussion.
