Clippers and Pistons are engaged in serious talks on a deal centered on forward Blake Griffin

My thinking on Jordan might be something along the lines of the three team deal that the Blazers could get in on. If he was wanted by the Mavs once why not try to work something out again along those lines?

Now i wonder if Dallas will want Jordan again?

Pretty sure that ship has sailed. They were trying to build a veteran team around Dirk for one last playoff push. Now they're just waiting for Dirk to retire so they can start their much needed rebuild. Getting a 32-year old overpaid center doesn't scream rebuild to me.

Because it's not 2015.

Jordan can leave. There is that. But they have assets to get him.

Explain to me why a team that NEEDS to rebuild would want a 32-year old center? What assets would they/should the give up to get him?

They are currently 16-34 and Dirk is retiring after the season is over. Adding Jordan will not get them to the playoffs. Depending on what they give up, he could help them win a couple more games, but all that does is get them fewer ping pong balls in the lottery.

I just wonder why we didn't jump in a 3-team trade to pickup Tobias Harris and Avery Bradley. Those guys are exactly what we need. I would've offered Meyers, Turner, and our 2018 and 2020 1sts to LAC for Harris and Bradley. That's a huge upgrade. Flip Napier and Vonleh for a 1st or pieces and then use those pieces to get Tyreke Evans and then we'd be cooking with something:

Lillard / McCollum / Baldwin
McCollum / Bradley / Connaughton
Harris / Evans / Harkless
Aminu / Collins / Swanigan
Nurkic / Davis

We'd have the best bench in the entire league.

I assume LAC is going full rebuild so 3 picks for Griffin would've been solid. Bradley is likely to leave there anyway and is Tobias Harris worth that much to them...?

If they could get a 1st for Jordan and Lou Williams, they'd be adding 5 future 1sts... That's how you start a rebuild.

theyjust extracted value out of both Griffin and Paul when they both could have walked for nothing

They also signed Gallinari, who is even more injury prone than Blake to a 3 year $65 million contract. They should have done a sign and trade with Blake, like they did with CP3 and not fucked around signing Gallinari. They didn't fully commit to the rebuild until today. Now they are stuck with Gallinari and his contract and will end up with a higher draft pick since they were playing to win and thought they were good enough to make the playoffs for 50 games.

Why would DET want Meyers and Turner? Clearly they are trying to make the playoffs.

I meant to LAC

MyLe, ET, 2 picks for Harris and Bradley. Get us under the luxury tax as well, and turns two bad contracts into an expiring and a decent one.

OK, why would the rebuilding Clipper want Turner and Meyers?

For that matter, why would ANY TEAM want Turner and Meyers?

Because they're rebuilding, and would get two draft picks in return. They won't be signing anyone in the next couple years and Gallinari's contract is already a deadweight. So cap flexibility doesn't matter to them. The picks would be valuable.

If they need a 3rd pick, do it.

Clippers trying to shred salary for a play at Lebron?

Congrats to the Clipper organization for realizing tgeir stars weren't going to win them shit, and trading 1 for cap space and a 1st.

Hope we do the same

Yeah other than Blake is an asshole, a pathetic leader who will make 38 mil by the time is contract is up, is injury prone, and has punched a teammate in the face in a bar fight.....it is the exact same scenario.

We didn't get them because that's the only way Detroit was getting Blake. lol.

While griffin is good he is also a very often injured big man who has 4 years 140m left on his deal AFTER this year. You think were fucked for flexability now, imagine how we would be if we had Blake and no they woulnd't have taken back Meyers/ET for him.
