id happily take wes back and ill happily live without aldridge. i also happily watch cuban get screwed. happiest ive been since we made playoffs actually

Don't agree with everything you said but I'd definitely take Wes back. What an example for a young team.

This Jordan thing is potentially worse for the Mavs than Aldridge's departure was for us. He was much more committed to them (agreeing to terms), it was significantly farther along in FA (who's left?!), and could potentially cost them other FA's like Wes and take them from potentially contending to full-on rebuilding.

this could have an interesting/fun ripple effect on other FA signings

Mixed emotions on that. Yes I want him on team but not for the money he is asking for. I have already moved on, replacing him in my mind with CJ and Connaughton (long term) and CJ/ Henderson (short term).

Save that 15 million for a dynamic SF to pair up with Aminu. Unless Wes comes back for less money and plays SF.

I'd sign him to a big one-year deal as a thank-you because I'm sappy, and it frees us up next summer.

Get Wes back?

The idea is to suck next year and get a lottery pick. Skal Labissiere is looking real good right now as a potential Aldridge replacement. Ben Simmons and Cheick Diallo also look like real talents.

With Aldridge leaving you have to start over. No point in being 2-3 games short of the playoffs.

I could live with that since you could trade him at the deadline for a late #1 to a contender.
But I still like having the flexibility of an unbalanced trade.

Hmm, none of the Kings' free agent signings (Belinelli, Koufos, Casspi) are official; if Wes decides he wants to come there instead of Dallas, do they back out of their agreements with the above 3 in order to get Wes?

Then DAL will need a big and go after Koufos or Kanter. Ripple effects everywhere.
