LaMarcus Aldridge is set to undergo right hip surgery and hopes to return in time to compete for an Olympic roster spot.

Aldridge has yet to notifiy USA basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo of his summer plans.

“In our minds, he's (Aldridge) on our unavailable list,” Colangelo said. “We haven't heard from anybody telling us he's going to try and play. I got to hear from somebody. An agent, a doctor, somebody. As of now, we're going in thinking he's unavailable.”

U.S. training camp is set to begin on July 6.

“We're going to go with healthy players,” Colangelo said. “He (Aldridge) hasn't even had his surgery yet. If he's going to be back in time and plans on playing, I need to know.”

God I hope LaMarcus doesn't play this summer.

Dude needs a break, his life has been a roller coaster ride the last couple years.

We need LMA here in the USA, focused on recruiting players.

It "worked" with Jamal.... :sigh:

hmm, maybe he should call him then

i want to know what time lowes is open until!! im in the dark over here!

Yeah, I like how Colangelo talks to the media about this. Wouldn't it be easier to just reach out to LMA himself? I mean, don't get me wrong - LMA should have provided Colangelo with an update. But instead of complaining to the media about not getting an update from LMA, why not call his peeps and get an update?

back when he was getting the surgery, LA relayed that the projection was for him to miss 2-4 months and that he'd hopefully get to participate with the Olympic team. Like most players he'd enjoy that honor and would do it if he can. I'm sure Colangelo's side has sent out emails and such to all the guys, but LA has dragged his feet responding. Maybe his rehab is trending more towards the 4 month estimate? I hope he gets to play

Back when we was getting surgery? The original article made it sound like LMA hasn't had the surgery yet?

just do the opposite of whatever the blazers training staff recommends. :MARIS61:

Colangelo wants answers? Wait, what? He wants the truth? He can't handle the truth

I am guessing he is going to wait until after the surgery to call Colangelo. They probably won't know what the rehab is going to be like until after the surgery. After they do the surgery they should have an idea of what the recovery is. He probably wants to play very badly, and you only get an opportunity every 4 years, but I can't imagine Colangelo wanting to take a chance with Aldridge. I can't imagine he is ready to play in training camp 2 months post surgery. And to put that extra pounding on your body prior to a full length season after a lockout shortened season, just seems like a pretty bad idea coming off surgery.

He needs to focus on getting healthy. Olympics be damned.
