Politics Colorado Supreme Court Rules Trump is Ineligible to Appear on Ballot Due to 14th Amendment

I think you see why this is a bad idea then. If the judicial system gets to kick off politicians it doesn't like by just saying, "They engaged insurrection".

It's clear that we've crossed some kind of Rubicon in our country, in that the department of justice is now active politically. And it's been brought to us by the Democreeps. The same party that keeps lamenting about how things are "threats to our democracy" turn around and do stuff like this.

It’s the whole game. They are blatantly guilty of everything they accuse Trump of in a manner that is so egregious it flies in the face of reality. Nearly every leftist politician and media outlet is guilty of trying to unseat a US president using false stories and outright lies. They did it for 4 years straight and are now hoping nobody noticed. All their scandals turned up nothing. I’m actually surprised they DIDN'T find any actual dirt on Trump as hard as they scrutinized. Now we’ve watched the whole thing devolve into cherry picking bank loans to try and interfere in an election and take away people’s choice to vote for the most popular candidate. This isn’t democracy, and Democrats love it.

They aren't just saying he participated in an attempted insurrection though. Trump actually did participate in an attempted insurrection, and he let it continue without speaking out against it, even though his staff was pleading with him to do so.

Even if all he did was refuse to stop it, that's still treasonous behavior that should disqualify him as a potential candidate.

They aren't just saying he participated in an attempted insurrection though.
They quite literally are. He hasn’t even been charged for that specific crime. Why?
Trump actually did participate in an attempted insurrection
This is just false. You are literally just making false statements.

It’s amazing how many ridiculous leaps and bounds you have to take to arrive at this:
that should disqualify him as a potential candidate.
You seem to be the one actively supporting suppression of democracy, not the orange man. You want to take half the country’s vote away based on extremely dubious claims.

Trump literally lied to a huge group of followers about election tampering to get them into a frenzy, told them to go to the capital building and to fight like hell to stop the vote.

He did this publicly. There is no disputing that.

Then when they literally stormed the capitol building and began hunting for members of congress with zip ties he didn't say anything to stop them, even though he had hours and ample opportunity to do so.

Again, this is public knowledge that can't be faked.

That's inciting and leading an attempted insurrection.

Trump should be in jail for the rest of his life.

I don't think people who have done these things should be allowed to participate in a democratic election. And certainly not be eligible to be on a democratic ballot.

Half (both halves) of the country is more than welcome to vote. But Trump clearly committed about the worst offense possible as an American, and he should receive the harshest punishment possible.

I hate the death penalty, but this is about as close as I'll get to supporting it.

This isn’t what happened. He told them to go peacefully.
That's inciting and leading an attempted insurrection
once again, you had to stretch the truth to get to this conclusion.

you are officially insane. Congratulations.

There are about 2 "leftist politicians in the Democratic Party...Bernie Sanders and AOC...the rest are firmly in the middle other than the parties tendencies to support civil rights legislation over the opposition. The political landscape today is not balanced as you allude to but is tilted to the crazy right from Trump's camp and in the case of the GOP refusing to follow the rule of law and peaceful transition of power...one and only one party is guilty and not the entire party...a dozen Republicans had the balls to tell the truth. You need to exercise perspective when it comes to the insurrection of Jan 6th and the crooks that spurred it on. The truth is the truth and all the "whataboutism" doesn't apply to Trump...he's indicted on 91 counts...that doesn't get swept under the rug for conservative talking points.

The only person taking leaps and bounds and being dishonest is yourself @jonnyboy. Well, you and @beast crnjo. You’re both being intellectually dishonest if you don’t think Trump was guilty of leading an insurrection against the United States.

Take a step back, watch the videos again, and answer the question honestly.

You are just saying that. People who don't have Trump Derangement Syndrome do not agree. He has not even been charged with insurrection, even though there are plenty of people who would love to see him go down for that. If they could make a case for that they would. So what does that tell you?

It's not enough to simply call something an "insurrection". Did Al Gore conduct an "insurrection" when challenged the Florida results in 2000? Did Hillary when she kept saying Trump was an illegit president etc, or that he stole the election.

Think beyond your hatred of Trump at what kind of precedent this sets.

You are capable of making a decent argument without resorting to false equivalencies. Neither of those two examples were accompanied by large groups of people encroaching uninvited to government buildings to impede political process, so they are clearly not valid comparisons.

The person who has Trump derangement syndrome is Trump

You're the one making a "false equivalency" by comparing a rally, in which a small minority got out of hand to an "insurrection". Insurrection in the context of the 14th amendment was referring to the Civil War. Give me a break...

Neither Gore or Hillary directed a mob to go fight congress.

If you are a public leader and you assemble a mob and direct it to attack the capital building while Congress is in session to enact a presidential handoff according to the will of the people, you are guilty of insurrection.

Neither Gore or Hillary did anything of the sort. Not even close.

“I know you’re hurt. We had an election that was stolen from us. Was a landslide election and everyone knows it, especially the other side.

But you have to go home now, we have to have peace, we have to have law and order, we have to respect our great people in law and order. We don’t want anybody hurt. It is a very tough period of time.”

That’s a direct quote from Trump on January 6. You can say what you want about his claims of election meddling all you want and say they are bullshit, it’s fair for you to hold that opinion. At the end of the day it’s not illegal for him to have said those things though.
As far as insurrection and incitement, it just didn’t happen, not even close. You are perpetuating a lie by suggesting his statements could in any way be construed as incitement to an insurrection. He in no way told people to overthrow the government or storm the capitol. It simply did not happen.

Neither Gore or Hillary directed a mob to go fight congress.
Nor did Trump. Kick, scream, cry and lie all you want. It didn’t happen.

Provide me a link or a quote proving otherwise. You can’t. There aren’t any.

How do you shamelessly post things like this that aren’t true? Do you actually believe they are true, or are you actively being dishonest?

He still is spouting his big lie. He called the Governor of Georgia to "find" him thousands of votes...yep..it happened. He also made some other statements about marching on the Capitol on Jan 6th you swept under the rug but it suits your narrative to ignore the actual events because you want to seed doubt and conspiracy from the dems in a big way for some reason. Good luck with that....in the end the truth is the truth and Trump is a traitor, liar and crook. Doesn't take rocket science to figure the asshole out. I don't want a dictator or monarch leading the country but apparently some folks really do.

Now your trolling. If you want to discuss politics you need to be better than this drivel. You don't need a link, just read the news. Listen to Trump's words and he's said it all already. Yours truly..the S2 leftist think tank board member!

Your dislike of Trump, which I truly don’t think is unfounded, doesn’t equate incitement, insurrection or justify removing people’s right to vote for him. I’ll say again, Trump is abrasive, annoying, cocky and just about every other form of off putting that drives people on the left up the wall. Those things aren’t illegal though and legitimate rule of law doesn’t judge based on those traits.

Give me a quote then. Seriously. It should be easy if you’re that unwavering in your belief.

That request goes to anyone else here as well. Simply provide a quote or video of Trump inciting an insurrection. Please I am begging. Should be easy. It’s so obvious and out in the open that Riverman was baffled I would even ask. I guess I just missed that particular clip or news report. Can someone just drop it on here real quick for me? Please and thank you.

That quote was 187 minutes from the capital attack. Yes. Over 3 hours after, when it was clear congress was not going to be destroyed.

Quotes from earlier in the day, before the attack on the capital building.

In the 70 minute speech he made one statement about being peaceful. He said: "I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Which is his only defense in this whole thing, and flies completely in the face of what he'd been saying for months prior.

On Jan 6th, prior to the attack, Trump had urged his supporters to “get rid of the weak Congress people” — “get the weak ones get out. This is the time for strength.”

'We will never give up. We will never concede. It doesn't happen'

He went on: "You don't concede when there's theft involved. Our country has had enough. We will not take it anymore."

"You will have an illegitimate president. That is what you will have, and we can't let that happen."

'If you don't fight like hell you're not going to have a country anymore'

'We are going to the Capitol'

He said: "We're going to walk down to the Capitol and we're going to cheer on our brave senators and congressmen and women, and we're probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them."

'We will stop the steal'

Then the mob went and attacked the capital building, while Congress was in session to confirm the transfer. They went, but Trump doe not. Even though he told them he was going with them.

'We are going to the Capitol'

Those quotes are all over the OT section and have been for years. It's concluded already. You can backtrack and watch his speeches, see his actions..better yet, listen to the Republican witnesses from the Jan 6th committee or Liz Cheney, Mitt Romney, Adam Kinsinger.....they weren't leftists by any stretch...I'll guide you to the Jan 6th testimonies and leave you there....listen carefully to the election workers in Georgia, the Governor of Georgia and Bill Barr, his own right hand man. Ask any of the generals he fired in his rages or most of his cabinet members.the Capitol Police who dealt with the riots....his lawyers have already copped plea deals from his lies. I don't need to feed you articles as you've seen them already. Choices. You've apparently drawn a line in the sand after burying your head in it.

You left out the incitement and insurrection part. Listing a bunch of benign quotes and trying to pass them off as ominous dog whistles is just silly and it isn’t convincing. Most of these quotes are bland political platitudes you’ll hear from any politician left, right or center. Once again, there is no proof here of inciting an insurrection.
Is this seriously all you’ve got? Truly? You think a person should get the death penalty based on contrived nonsense and purposely misinterpreted statements? That is actually frightening.

You've seen quotes. But I've included many in another post again.

So the answer is no.

So the answer is no.
You can choose to not watch the jan 6th testimonies or the election fraud case in Georgia if you want...that's on you. I gave you directions but you're young enough to do a Google search. Can't make you go there and listen though. Who did you vote for in the last two elections or did you even vote? Curious.

The simple fact that he continues to push a blatant lie (for which there is absolutely NO evidence to support WHATSOEVER) for over three years should be disqualifying in and of itself. All politicians lie out their asses, but this is different. He is telling ME to MY face that I am stupid and corrupt when he and I both know that that is a lie. That's ALL I need to hear out of the guy. He is handing me a bucket of cow shit (and I know shit. Trust me) and telling me it's cotton candy. To eat up. He deliberately saw the widening cracks in this country and gleefully ginned up a bald faced lie to make those cracks even deeper in order to benefit himself personally. Not illegal but morally indefensible beyond a doubt. Our democracy has been disintegrating ever since the Reagan era, but if our democracy ends up failing completely (not an unreasonable expectation), the bulk of the responsibility will be laid at the feet of Trump and the Republican Party. My opinion, and I'll likely (hopefully) be gone before it comes to fruition. But when and if I'm correct, I hope you'll at least raise a pint of Speed Goat in acknowledgement. Or flip off the sky if I'm wrong........But I just do not see how anyone whatsoever could defend and/or support someone who is such a self centered, blatant liar. At least Joe respects us enough to at least make a lie look plausible......

You want me to listen to hours of opinionated testimonies from people who long ago vowed to take Trump down loosely interpreting novel, outdated legal exceptions…but you can’t simply provide one quote or video?

These people are living in a warped reality. It seems impossible to communicate with them.

It might surprise some to hear, that I don't even like Trump, but I could see plainly, that the rhetoric that started to get spun up about him after he won the nomination was propaganda. He went from being a popular TV host to being compared to Hitler yadda, yadda, yadda.

His fake elector scheme and asking Pence not to count the votes was not a good thing, but to say he launched an "insurrection" is ridiculous. The protest on Jan 6 was not an insurrection. How many shots did they fire? Look at the video of them casually being lead around the capital by officers, video the establishment didn't want the public to see, because it gives a counter to their narrative.
