Anybody try it? Still having my PC problems, and a friend recommended it.

lol wasnt me.. bro in law housesat for us for about 5 days.. come back and all sorts of crap. I have spybot and Malaware and Ad-Aware. Whatever this is wont let Spybot and Malaware run (not even in safe mode) and Ad-Aware doesnt detect anything. This is a nasty one.

Looks like bro in law needs to buy you a new computer.

I dont think its to the point where I need a new one. But believe me if it came to that.. his culo is paying for it!

Combofix got past the virus that wouldnt load spybot, malaware, itunes store and a whole bunch of other things. This program is dandy!

it operates at a much lower level than most apps - anything else still wrong?

nope everything seems perfectly back to normal. I'm running Spybot and others now to make sure. I think I'll stick with them still. But this is a good one to run in a pinch. When the virus F's with my other programs.

all i can think of when I read this, is this sort of stuff

I mean, sounds nice and all, but the product name is mad sketch.

It said to disable my firewall. Sounded like a Republican conspiracy to me, so I left my firewall on. Pretty soon, my firewall stopped Combofix from fixing me up with a date with the trojan Artemis. There will be no Combofix for me.

I suggest you try loading it with your firewall on and see for yourself, before disabling your firewall.

weird.. it didnt ask me for anything to do with my firewall.

the official instructions from the primary download site...

"Close all open Windows including this one.
Close or disable all running Antivirus, Antispyware, and Firewall programs as they may interfere with the proper running of ComboFix. Instructions on disabling these type of programs can be found in this topic."

I ran it, but all I received back was some type of log. Is that all there is?

yeah thats all it was for me.. it told me the stuff it removed. So after the log was completed, I checked my stuff I was having problems with and its all back to normal. I think it automatically removes the threats.. it doesnt give you an option of "click ok to continue" for example.

A buddy of mine who I trust with all PC related advice/help had this to say about Combofix.

I would agree to that. I'm not keeping scanning with it. I'm back to SPybod and Malaware, and Ad-aware. But It sure helped with the nasty ones that were keeping those mentioned programs from opening.

I wish I had the patience to run through all of this. I want one-step, push-button operations!! :)

is your compy infected, or are you just looking for new programs to scan through it, to do checkups?

It starts up rather slow. Sometimes runs slow, as well (Vista). I was thinking it might be malware? :dunno:

gotcha. Yeah Combofix seems good for one click getting rid of nasty stuff. But I wouldnt use it for checkups.
