So I'm weakening. I love my DirectTV, but.... let's face it, CSNW is never gonna be on there. And all 82 Blazer games are in HD this year.... but only for Comcast subscribers. *sigh* Maybe time to do a deal with the Devil?

Comcast is throwing this offer at me: Digital Preferred with an HD-DVR and a second HD Tuner Box for $54.94+taxes and fees for 12 months. After that it jumps to $98.89+taxes and fees. They are also telling me there's a $29.99 installation fee, but I bet if I bitch enough, they'll waive it.

Should I do it? I'm fighting between sticking to my guns and not giving that fucking corporate bloodsucking parasite one red cent of my hard-earned cash, but I'm also a Blazer Fan that is itching to put these two big-assed HDTVs I own to work, and at least I'm lucky enough to BE in a Comcast-serviced area, a lot of people don't even have that luxury and opportunity.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!!

I'd think less of you for giving in to The Man. I think the Blazers will have a deal to televise more games this year outside of the Comcast circle. If not, I'm perfectly happy with justin.tv or Wheelz/'Tone on the radio.

I wouldn't do it. Nice job holding to your guns thus far. Since you have held out thus far. See it out.

Can you get Verizon FiOS in your area? I have it and I feel good cause its not comcast but I have CSN

I pay money to Comcast, and it hasn't ruined my life. I actually rather enjoy watching the Blazers in HD.

Yeah, it would be nice if the Volvo dealer down the street sold Porsches, but they don't. If I want to buy a Porsche, I have to go to the Porsche dealer. Yeah, maybe the Volvo dealer is marginally less sleazy than the Porsche dealer, but what's more important here? The car, or the dealer?

Yet some fans are stuck with a Pinto, and they don't have a choice. :dunno:

The problem is Porsche has comparable competition. Comcast does not. They are basically monopolizing the idea.

I agree, I feel bad for those who don't have a choice. But this thread isn't about them, it's about those who do have the choice.

Just get it. Yes its a deal with the devil but sometimes it feels good to be evil. You'll enjoy it all season long.

Cancel it the day the season ends, they always have deals. It's like a health club, they want you to sign up on some plan where you forget about it and just have the money taken out every month; your too lazy to stop/cancel it. But if you play the game right you can get really cheap deals.

There are corporations that pollute the environment, exploit the poor poverty ridden people in other countries, and bribe politicians. While I don't like the vibe from this Comcast fiasco, it's just simple crude business. I can't get too mad at a simple cable company when there are far bigger issues on this planet.

Nah. Other cable/satellite services are comparable to Comcast, just as other car companies are comparable to Porsche. You want one particular feature that Comcast has but other cable companies don't. You might just as easily lust after some feature on the latest Porsche that the competition doesn't offer in exactly the same fashion.

monopolies are not illegal. When you use the monopoly to sell your other products that's illegal. For example if you say to the customer I want you to buy 1000 copies of Windows 7 but only if you buy 1000 copies of Windows Movie Maker that's called "tying" and illegal. Comcast does not do this.

Basically what i'm saying is...sign with the devil! :)

Made the switch 2 months ago and it has been cool. I'm just glad my family can finally see the games.

I've cost Comcast over $10000 now and counting :D

I'm like a reverse salesman for my family/friends (which I have a lot of on both fronts). Never thought I'd say this, but it's actually kinda fun :)

I wish I had comcast just for the HD games. CSN has terrible quality when its not HD.

But wait its Comcastic! Triple play baby! Its Fiber optic! (over coax) Your an MVP! (as you stand in a 50 person line to get your cable box repaired)

I will not switch to Comcast... not no way... not no how.

Thanks for all of your input. My wife looked over the channel listings and gave her provisional okay, so now the ball is in my court (pun intended). Do I call and make the appointment to have it installed? One thing I didn't mention is that I'm going to have to pay $80 to DirectTV to break my contract with them early, so that's an added expense. FUCKING FUCK, WHY CAN'T COMCAST JUST QUIT BEING DOUCHEBAGS AND SELL THE FUCKING CHANNEL IN HD TO DIRECTTV AT A FAIR PRICE????? FUCKING BASTARDS!!!!

Chris I feel your pain but do not forget about Comcast's god awful DVR, it constantly records both new and old episodes of season passes you set up, is laggy as all hell and the very small hard drives in the DVR's. You can record 16 hours of HD content on their DVR so if you fall behind on your programming or want to keep a game or two there goes half of your drive space. And last time I had Comcast their pausing live buffers was limited to 15 minutes on HD channels, this could have changed since I switched is very inconvenient as well.

I'm a DirecTV/FiOS for internet and phone customer and am considering adding FiOS tv, right now I can add it free for 6 months and months 7-12 is 30/month, plus they throw in a free DVR for 3 months. Total cost is $180 for all Blazer games, I know it's not HD but it is better than slinging it. I am in your boat as well, I have access to Dish, Direct, FiOS and Comcast and have chose to switch from them the day they launched CSNNW.

I have been calling Comcast once a week seeing if they will beat the Verizon offer and the best I have gotten out of them is $38/month with a DVR (to add HD it would be $46), total cost of about $228/$276 for the 6 month season with a DVR and SD/HD prices. And Verizon with my bundle would $180, if I paid for the DVR for months 4-6 it would add $48, so $228, plus I would have it for 12 months total because of the promo/contract, good thing is Comcast is usually contract free.

Just some things to think about especially if you have an $80 buyout, it might be easier to just add Comcast/Verizon to a TV rather than replacing everything.

Is adding comcast for the season not an option? I would not break my contract and go with Comcast, not even for my beloved Blazers! Think about what you are about to do!!!

I REALLY wish Fios was available where I live. :sigh:

I have an erroneous collections account on my credit report thanks to Comcast. They say I never returned my equipment when I moved two years ago, even though I did. I have talked to customer service on multiple occasions, and they say if I can't produce my equipment return receipt (again, from two years ago, and probably three moves during that time) it's a valid collection.

Over $600 for something I don't even owe. Pisses me off.
