I have a Dimension 3000 Dell and the sound car is
Soundmax integrated Digital Audio.

Sound isn't working on it probably because I don't have the correct driver.
I Downloaded one but it won't work. Can any comp. techie help me out?

Moved here so more people could see it. I'm not much of a techie...

Definitely look for the driver in one of the CDs that came with your computer or look for a download on dell.com.

Didn't want to start a new thread so I just brought back this old one.

Anyway, my computer said something like by October 10th my version of Windows XP will be expired or something. In order to update it I clicked on the bubble and it took me to the official site. After I downloaded the new XP thing my computer has been acting retarded since. It's not even starting now.

Any help?

Re-install XP? I don't know, I just remember my brother doing that to my computer a long time ago and it worked.

Do you have XP Home?

If you do, install XP Pro, it gets rid of the confirmation stuff.

Not necessarily. Activation is a part of all versions of XP unless you have Windows XP Professional Corporate Edition. You definitely want to have a legitimate copy of Windows these days because they validate your system before you can apply security patches.

What was the "new XP thing" that you downloaded? Windows Genuine Advantage?
